[b]Rocket by Herbie Hancock and White Lines by the Grandmaster are two faves from early hip-hop - reminds me of my break-dancing career - my first fully fledged youth movement at 11 - never lost a burn mind

OMG M I think you're my perfect man.

In chronological order I reckon

White Lines and Planet Rock shaped my youth.

Aint Nobody was the first song that made me go all shivery.

Then listened to old stuff and discovered Lets stay togther by Al Green (still possibly my best song of all time), Anything by Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding or Donny Hathaway still gets me going.

I wanna be adored by the Sone Roses too great for words

Dont you want me by Felix reminds me of meeting in M25 service stations and driving to a field in the middle of nowhere.

Optimistic by the Sounds of Blackness and All this love that I'm giving by Gwen McCrae reminds me of clubbing days.
About a girl by Nirvana makes me remember how beauiful Kurt was

Bizarrely the song that chokes me up most is 3 Lions cos I got married during Euro 96 and it was all over by France 98

The list could go on forever........

ooh, old electro vinyl in the loft?.....priceless

off topic - where do you get all female bars? you mean it was a lady's nite (I was born on lady's day btw)

afraid 80s soul is a genre I seemed to have largely overlooked - will have to pop across the water and look at yr record collection (and maybe even pop up into the attic)

Ooops forgot Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division. Absolute classic song.

All female bar is up West End. When I say all female bar, its actually a female gay bar.

Is it just my collection of vinal you'd like to see?

Do you mean The Vespa Lounge?

Saw some lads in their parkas walk in there the other week and then straight back out again

Was in traffic today and stuck on Stevie Wonder and was transported back to being 11 years old and hearing Masterblaster. And realising for the first time that listening to someone singing could make your hairs stand on end.

I wonder why that happens?. That wonderful shiver down the spine and the hairs on the back of your head standing to attention. What is the evolutionary purpose of this?, that certain sounds at certain frequencies, rhythm and colour can affect you like that?. Yet on others it will have no effect whatsoever?.

the only song to give me that shivers thing was

These are the Days, By Queen. Mainly because of the last words of the song, and how Freddie made it seem so personal to the listener, even though you knew that it was meant for the millions of fans Queen had, he still seemed to be only talking to you at the time.

lots of other songs are special, but not quite as effective to me as the above song.

I can certainly relate to that. That song, along with that album, Innuendo, was Freddie's goodbye to us. I still miss him 11 years later..
