OK basically what happened was I went into the store (phones 4 u) and I was told they had a contract where I would get 240 minutes xnet, and also an additional 120 xnet free and a promotional 120 minutes to fixed lines for 6 months. However I'm not sure this is true cos after I signed up, I went on their website and didn't find any offer like that on there. The promotion that was on the website said you get 240 minutes xnet and 120 minutes to fixed lines for 6 months.

Does anyone know how I can check and verify what I was told is correct as the store I went to isn't my local one. Can I just go into any Phones 4 U store and confirm the details I was told or do I have to go to the one I signed up for the contract at (would rather not as it isn't local).

Thanks.

PS: Also if I HAVE been in fact missold and what I was told isn't what I'm actually getting, can I cancel the contract?

You can cancel the contract within 14 days, after that you can't. You are meant to read the contract, if you signed it then there's not a lot you can do. You would not be able to prove what was verbally agreed unless you get somebody to go in and speak to the same person and confirm that they are giving out false information, better still get them to write it down as proof. That's the only way you could get out of it.

If it's T-Mobile you have to cancel within 7 days.

Yea thanks I will be trying the network's website direct I'm gonna cancel the contract first thing tomorrow morning. I guess I was a bit of a pushover, they can be very persuasive those sales people! They pounce on you as you walk in their store and just rattle off what seems like a good deal but it really isn't.

Thank God for 14 day cooling off periods!

I did send one text using the phone though, I wonder how much they will charge? I don't care anyway, I bet they will try their hardest to make me stick with them, I'm gonna have to be very strong! The woman who served me was very attractive lol

They actually don't have to give you any colling off period if the service is connected and started, it's just goodwill, but all networks do...

I'm sure cancelling won't be a problem..

At the end of the day all these so called independant dealers will try and sell you another network after 12 months cos they get a big fat commission from the next network they sign you up to.

If you not sure about what you want then deal direct with the network and look at the customer gaurantee info. At Virgin you can return the phone if it doesn't suit within 28 days rather than 7 or 14.
