I've saw one?

Probable catch will be compulsory itemised billing usually about £170 per month. Also a credit check too.

I've sawded seen one for £39.99 with 600 minutes and so many free txts, but not sure if it's still on.

More and more of them will appear, trying to tempt people onto contract. At the end of the contract, you'll get no end of hassle to start paying them a monthly fee, perhaps over £10-13. If you cancel then you have the hassle of changing your number or having to transfer your old one.

It has its pros and cons.

Its a promotion to get you hooked to their network (and the phone No). I've done it a couple of times, last one was £39 for 15 months, free itemised bill and buy-one get one free. Was a bit strange I had to pay £30 per month then got a bank credit of £30 (for the 2) from the company I bought it from. You probably end up paying for at least one month at the end (12 month +30 day notice). You usually can't take out a new one with the same network - they are for new users only (but you can swap network or register in another name!). One useful tip, with Vodafone (at least) you can get the phone number changed from contract to pay as you go at the end of the contract, so you can keep the no live, for nothing (but no transfer of free mins, and 7.50 credit when registered).

Watch out the price of calls when not free though!

The line advance cards say they wont work on PAYG phones, it has to be an ex-contract phone.

My PAYG phone is newer and in better condition, so if i registered it with the ex-contract o2 phone, could i switch the SIM into my PAYG O2 phone later?
