I agree, I am an Anton fan and yet I do love to see him try the dances he hates, it does end up being very comical. But then equally he is so wonderful at the ballroom dances he puts everyone else to shame.

Like BB without Nikki, SCD without Anton would be bland.

For what it is worth I put the question of why Latin dancers are better at ballroom etc to a professional latin dancer who was also formerly a ten dance champion.

His answer was nearly all dancers start out with ballroom, then after a time they choose one or the other or they do ten dance. So the Latin dancers have learnt ballroom and the 10 dance dancers have done both also. The Ballroom dancers mostly never do much latin as they start with ballroom and carry on with it. Most of the top world ballroom champions would struggle with Latin. There is only one latin champion he knows who struggles with ballroom and that is Paul Killick. So this is why the BBc cant find a ballroom couple to join Anton and Erin. Erin seems more at home with the Latin than Anton but he hides it well with his personality.

Anton looks a bit odd dancing latin, but Erin pulls it off well. And Izabela's great as well.

I love it when Anton does Latin, as I am always on the edge of my seat as to how he is going to choreograph it to suit himself and his partner. I have to say that I remember on several occasions he has made himself look a little silly to promote something his partner does well, like in Patsy's ChaCha when she did that shaking arms thingy, Anton did a version and it just looked wrong. (Luckily he was in the background)

What a lovely chap.

Thank you for explaining why Latin dancers handle ballroom better than Ballroom dancers handle latin. It makes perfect sense to me now and I respect Anton and Erin even more for doing it.

Anton is so funny, his Latin gets by because he is a master 'blagger' and his personality carries it, lets face it most of the public watching wouldnt have any idea if it was not quite right so long as it looks good.

I have heard him say he hates the Samba, he thinks it is a silly pointless dance, and I can see what he means. I have started on the Paso and that is quite difficult though it is the lady who does the most work the man seems to spend his time marching on the spot doing appels and a lot of posturing!

I think Anton is very brave taking it on and he must be getting better at it himself now after 3 series. His personality carries the show a lot of the time wouldnt be the same without him.

ahhh Tigertash don't worry, the BBC know he's an asset, and most people either think he's funny or fancy the pants off him. Either way he's entertaining.
My husband can't stand him but thats because I go on about SCD so much.

I'm afraid I agree!!! Well its not so much that I dislike him, just find him very slimy really and as a personality he doesn't appeal to me, I actually think he has a really negative attitude towards latin dancing, he is openly seen complaining about dances like the samba and the paso doble, and his partners always score low in the latin, which is mostly due to him and therefore unfair on them.

Having said this I've never met the guy though and may really like him so its difficult to say. Either way as long as he is willing to do it, I'm sure the BBC will continue to sign him as he provides entertainment and is very popular! Hope I haven't caused any offence

Noway you can't affend with an opinion. Everyone likes different things and different people. I don't think his negative attitude towards the latin hurts his partners through, he just hasn't had one good enough to do latin well.

Agree with everything you say TeresaAL, I'm hoping he gets a partner this year that can get to grips with the latin, and then hopefully he may surprise us all.

Anton is fabulous value on the show, he has me in fits of laughter.

His dancing is quite good too.

All the pros bring something different to the show.

As I missed all of series 1 I've never seen Nicole Cutler so am looking forward to seeing her especially.

I can't wait.

Ah happy days when SCD is back on Saturday nights.

Edit: To clarify I did see Nicole on the Dancing in the Street programme, so it's whetted my appetite.

Yes! And Matt too, they're both awesome and I'm kinda glad Nicole spilt with Robin as neither of the Cutlers could ever be as good with anyone else as they were/are together!
* Becca *

I wouldn't say that I'm glad they split, because now she is no longer competing, Nicole's talent is a great loss for this country as she was by far the best dancer to represent us for ages and nobody else really comes close.

But I do agree that there was no way that any other partnership could match up to what she had with Matthew, no way!

I didnt know Flavia and Vincent were ballroom or latin dancers?
I thought they were just tango dancers?
Oh well, just goes to show how little I know!

I am desperate for SCD to start back to see Darren and Lilia!

Nope, they're previous National finalists in both Ballroom and Latin.
