A link to the story would've helped. I've found one anyway.

Well, certainly didn't see that one coming. Thought they hated each other (or is my memory failing?)

I would of loved to be a fly on the wall when she had that
conversation with Sir Alan. Next Apprentice sure to be a male now. |

Syed is a disgrace, and i always knew that Michelle would muck up in her new job, but to think she would muck up by getting banged up and being pregnant. The only person who is laughing at Sir Alan right now is Ruth.

There are working women nowadays who use pregnancy as a way to skive off work and at the same time get paid, i know someone who worked at a school, and was only there for about 4 years, and within that 4 years she fell pregnant twice, therefore she wasted a good 1 and half years with maternity leave and still getting paid. I hate women who do that, if they want to be career woman then don't fall pregnant all the time, it's ok to have babies, but to have them every year costs the state alot of money, and also causes problems within the workplace, and women who do that should instantly get the sack. My older sister worked in a school for almost 11 years and she fell pregnant only once mid-way through her time in that school, and i thought that was great. But with Michelle the fact she got pregnant within one month of her new job really takes the biscuit, and it really doesn't show alot of commitments as she made out to be on her final speech to Sir Alan. Sure she can work for him after she gives birth, but for the mean-time her time at Amstrad would be wasted on being on maternity leave and still getting paid for that, and i know for sure Sir Alan doesn't like his money being wasted. I wonder if she will be appearing at next year's 'you're fired' show as a guest to be an inspiriation for the next year's candidate, well the next year winner won't certainly look upto Michelle, Michelle will probably appear next year with a huge belly and telling us that she did bits and bobs because she fell pregnant too early. What a farce this makes the series 2 look. Last edited by invicta : 22-07-2006 at 14:47. |

I think it is disgraceful that women were even allowed to compete in 'The Apprentice'. They should stay at home cooking nice meals for their husbands and looking after the children and leave the business world to men who can handle it.
Christ Invicta, I hope you only posted all that crap to be controversial as if that's your genuine opinion I think you need to take a leap out of the dark ages. I thought the news was hilarious - bet the Badger is killing herself laughing. But Syed definitely gets the last laugh over Sir Alan! |

How is this garbage funny, so if someone was in your organisation, a new, fresh employer ready for work, and then gets pregnant, do you think you will stand for it, although it is within women's right to take maternity leave, if a new employer just started a job and did that they'll get the sack from me. There are loads of women who do that and are so careless in their action. And it makes Michelle's stateman about her wanting a career over being a single-mother a complete farce, and the only ones who came out of it as hypocritical is none other than herself. I thought she was a useless candidate, all she did was sit on the fence. Sure she is good in certain areas such as Telecoms, maybe she should just stick to that, but for Amstrad and evidently on the task she was a farce from the minute go, the final task was a complete sham because she let her team do whatever they want, and then she blamed them when it went pear-shaped and took absolutely no responsibility for the sham she created as a project manager. If anything this news might make Sir Alan reconsider to hire a woman contender again. It may have been alittle ok if it wasn't public, but the fact is it is, and well in real situation that i know alot of women end with the sack for getting pregnant when they get their new job. But maybe for the sake of upholding the few reputation Sir Alan's got he might keep her for the sake of not being criticised, cos i am sure now he is having journalist and critics banging on hos door telling him he made a farce decision, and isn't bright as he thinks he is, and you know what, he deserves it, Ruth was the better contender than Michelle, everyone knew that, but he went with his 'gut instinct', a 'gut instinct' that was criticised by one of the interviewers in the week 11 interviews. And FYI, this is my honest real opinion, i don't need to answer to no-one or look controversial, the only difference is that i give my opinion which may not correlate to yours, and i think that is why you made such a pathetic statement. And also, i never said women should not compete in the Apprentice, but because we are born with a different reporoductive system to men (FACT) we need to be more careful with our action (i.e. take precaution) because if anything happens women suffer the burden more than men. You know, if Syed got hired or got a new job in any workplace and got his wife/michelle/girlfriend pregnant it would be ok because the baby isn't going to be inside his stomach for the next 6 month and nor will he be taking 6 month maternity leave, you know why, because he is a geezer, a fact of life i just taught you there, i hope you appreciate it. If you want to argue with anyone then go argue with God of why He created two different sex. The fact is, men and women are different, therefore if women want to have a career they need to be more careful in their action, and even Michelle said that she didn't even plan this, another careless statement/action on her part, especially starting her new job. The thing is, it's fine to have the baby, but with starting a new job that was so highly billed, well you deserve all the bo******g you get, and even that is getting away with it lightly if you ask me. Even more horrified by the comments now I realise Invicta is a she. What an ignorant attitude.
Sir Alan obviously saw something in Michelle - any decent employer, i.e. any employer working within the law, will not sack a female employee for becoming pregnant. If Michelle is worth retaining, her contract will be extended regardless. I still think the Badger should have won it! |

^^^ well you expected a feminist answer because i am a woman, well fact of life, not all women are feminist, in-fact, i despice them. Also, if one of my new employers was so careless in their action then i would have sacked them. Also, it's not like as if Michelle didn't know anything about her getting this new job, she knew she got the job, therefore on the reunion night she decides to drink her favourite drink, champagne of course,a nd weing her night to sleep with Syed, who i think got more brain-cell than that bimbo. She deserves every persecution she gets, and i hope Sir Alan hires a man as a winner next year for the sake of not getting us woman embarrassed, because Michelle pretty mush made a hash out of us.

Clearly the readers of this board are stuck firmly in the 19th century!
Have none of you heard of equal opportunities legislation? Have none of you heard of employment law? Have none of you ever made mistakes or acted on the spur of the moment? Do you not realise how ridiculous those of you who think the woman should be sacked sound and how way out of line you are? |

I reckon a fly on the wall documentary following the pregnacy would be fairly amusing. |

I hope she can make it work. She came across as very determined and ambitious, so I'm sure she can juggle a career and motherhood, millions of women do.

I liked him on the show, but that is totally irresponsible behaviour, where he was putting not just himself, but others at risk.
Well Syed isn't the one employed by Sir Alan, Syed ain't the one who got a new job, and fact, Syed is a man, so even if he did impregnate her she should have been more careful. Am i speaking in English or what because it seems no-ones understands me apart from few. i ain't saying she can't huggle motherhood and work, of course she can, but the fact she will be missing out work in her first year of the job shows little commitment contrary from what she made out in her final statement to Sir Alan on the show, that is my point. I don't care if she dies or gets sack, both her and syed deserve eachother with their new baby. |

She might only take the minimum maternity leave. I know women who've gone back to work after 3 months and carried on with their careers. (I couldn't do it though - since I had my baby last year, my career has gone way done my list of priorities.) Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm glad you're not my boss because you'd have made me feel like a criminal for getting pregnant!! I was only in my job for 9 months when I became pregnant, yet my employers were incredibly supportive. You never know, Sir Allan might be a supportive boss as well. |

I believe the basic statutory maternity leave is just six weeks. Friend of mine is going back to work soon and it seems a very short time but, financially, she has no alternative. I'm more concerned that Invicta thinks she is so powerful that she would sack her own employers should they become pregnant !!!!!!! I would be the last person to describe myself as a feminist but believe in equality for all - whether that be Michelle and Syed taking joint responsibility and Sir Alan giving Michelle exactly the same treatment that he would give to a male employee. I am going to ignore Invicta's nonsensical ramblings now - but, as one of the posts here wanted to follow Michelle's pregnancy, it made me think that I wish they would do a follow up programme on all the "contestants". Mad Jo has all but disappeared and she was comedy GOLD! |
