If we're talking about when we were kids then the first album I can remember owning is The Bay City Rollers.

Also my nan bought me Rick Astley for Christmas when I was 16.

Oh my god. one of those 'top of the pops' albums that appeared in the late sixties/early seventies. In my naiavity I actually thought it was the real aritists singing, and not sesssion singers. I took it to school to play during lunch before I had heard it, the singers were dire and the cover versions appaling!...everyone started laughing and I just wanted the ground to swallow me up!!

I did redeem myself somewhat by bringing in the following week an album by 'the incredible string band', which I got at a local jumble sale. No-one had heard of them, but they looked and sounded so suitabled stoned and spaced out and 'underground' that I regained a bit of face.

OMG we had some of them Top Of The Pops albums when I was a kid. They always had a scantilly clan woman on the front. Must have been mid 70's when I was little.

My brother had a Showaddywaddy album, which he now denies but I remember. My little sister had a very bizarre album which was Pinky and Perky doing cover versions of chart songs.

How the hell did we grow up so normal?

I have to say the Spice girls albums.

I was actually excited about getting them at the time.

How ironic that these two pieces of shite rocketed them to stardom?

Nothing embarrassing about the Quo! Ok, so I'm a fan - but ask a neutral who goes to see them, and most will agree that their gigs are awesome. Their new album (Heavy Traffic) is the best in 20 years - they're still the best rock and roll band in the land!

And - to fight off the forthcoming criticism...

1) They're not too old
2) They shouldn't retire
3) Their songs don't all sound the same
4) They know more than three chords.

I think that's about covered it.....
