Faulty disc?

Hi.
I got a disc yesterday, American psycho and tried playing it on my proline machine but despite several attempts it would not load and I was wanted to know if it was a known fault because I know sometimes disc don't work on certain machines, all my other discs work fine so i know the machine works, I don't know if it has anything to do with it but when opened it the disc was loose inside the box.
