Samsung 709 player and Matrix DVD

I am having problems playing 'The Matrix' DVD on my Samsung 709 player. Does anyone know if the player is known to have problems with the disc?

It does - check my reply to your post (709 Hack) for the web address of a really useful website dedicated to the Samsung 709 - I suspect they will be able to answer all your questions and have solutions to any problems you have encountered.

The original samsung 709`s had a problem with this disc because of the "follow the white rabbit" feature of the disc , the firmware used in the machine couldn`t cope with the seamless branching of the software , there were also problems with "there`s something about mary" , are you having problems with this ?there are firmware updates available , samsung were doing them free at one time but i`m not sure about now because they got into an argument with some of the dvd hierachy about the software encryption on the matrix and blamed them for the problems with the film on their machine , funny how it never happened on many others though , you could try irondukes site for firmware , there`s a vast library there , let me know if you get sorted , if not we`ll come up with something, cheers.
