Can you record from the scart socket onto the HD, or just from the tuners?

I was wondering if I could hook up my ntl box and record stuff from that.

Just from the tuners; same with all freeview recorders they record freeview. Like Sky+ records sky and NTL recorders (if they have one) record NTL.

What about those two really expensive (£500) freeviews recorders that have a hard disc and a DVD recorder?

Sorry Alex I should have said Freeview HDD recorders. Anything with a DVDR and HDD should record from an external source. Unfortunately looks like they are still mostly limited to single tuner models.
