Recorded programmes

On the Topfield, if you watch a recorded programme half way through then stop and start watching a different one, does it remember where you were up to in the 1st when you go back to it?

Yes; go to archive; select recording and press Play; goes to last watched point. If you press OK goes to start instead.

NB this is standard behaviour no TAPs needed. With My Stuff TAP loaded pressing play during live TV takes you back to last position in last watched recording in addition to the above.

Further to above the June 06 version of the manual (revision 4) is available here.

You may have to register with Toppy.uk

It deals with the above in section 3.6.2

Thanks.

I think I've decided that this is the one for me!

I think the Humax looks nicer though...

The Toppy looks great in black, and it's got a very slinky slightly rubber feel to it as well. If you like that sort of thing

Nigel.

The toppy especially in black (I have one of each ) looks better in the flesh (if you will excuse the expression; and at the risk of over exciting Nigel even more ) than in its piccys.

FWIW, when I had a Humax I didn't like the bright mirror finish that doesn't really show up in the marketing photos.

Here are some shots that almost show the mirroring.

It does look good in black but all my other AV stuff is silver!

Anyway, I not buying one for cosmetic reasons.

All my AV stuff is also silver but I didn't like the look of a silver Toppy. I therefore went for a 250Gb black panther and I am glad I did. It's smaller that I thought and the matt black finish makes it look really good to my eyes. Most of my silver AV kit also has black bits and bobs so it doesn't look out of place.

Another advantage of the matt black case is, from what I remember of physics at school, that it will probably be better at dissipating the heat.

Besides, black is the new silver! I reckon the move away from silver has begun. Perhaps I can have all silver in the lounge and then get black kit for my upstairs "snug" where the Toppy sits with a wee 5.1 surround sound and 26" LCD.

Is it all black or is the middle bit silver?

Black Panthers are just Black apart from the 2 buttons and the their little Topfield logo. They do look great IMO.

I bought the silver one to match my other kit, but I wish I'd gotten the black one.
