Blocking "Witheld numbers"
*R.C.

Is it possible to block a witheld number? I've been getting prank phone calls quite a lot lately, and figured that blocking witheld numbers would be the easiest option...And I know its possible to do on a landline.
I'm currently on o2 pay monthly, and have a Sony Ericsson s700i if that's any help...
Thanks in advance

No, you would need to get in touch with O2 to get the nuisance calls department to investigate.

how far into your contract are you? if you're around month 9 then these will be automated diallers from other companies and maybe o2 as well wanting to offer you new contracts or ugrades or similar. if when you answer the line goes dead is becasue these diallers are set up to dial loads of numbers at once, if theres a free agent when you answer then they will speak toyou, if not then the call drops, it'll keep tryin for a month or so until you speak to them.

hope this helps

I never bother. Unless i'm expecting a call, i just put witheld ones on the answer phone. If it's urgent they will leave a msg and I'll ring back.

At 3am? I doubt it... Whoever it is stays on the line, I've heard them breathing. Then as soon as my boyfriend tells them to F off, they hang up...

Turn your phone off at night then.

What about when I'm working nights and have to have my phone switched on when I'm sleeping... Or if there's a family emergency?
I phoned o2 anyway, and someone from the Nusience call place is going to get in touch with me.

You carn't block withheld numbers because o2 wouldn't be able to phone you then .

For Symbian based phones (basically Nokia smartphones) there is this peice of software called blacklist, which allows you to block certain numbers or types of numbers... http://www.symbianware.com/product.p...ist60&pl=n6600

I know it will NOT work on your phone, but there might be a 3rd party program like this for your phone, this is the only way i can think of being able to do it.

Don't Samsung's have the ability to block these?

Alos, I think, some Windows Smartphones will let you set them up to only accept calls from people in your phone book. I think!

If the S700 uses similar software to the K700i then it is possible to create a closed group of contacts that are allowed to call you. Any numbers not on this list or witheld are automatically rejected by the phone.

Haven't got the K700 infront of me at the moment but if you can't find out how to do it then PM me and I'll look at the phone when I get home later. The option is under the setup menu then calls I think.

Hope this helps

It's OK... o2 are dealing with it and tracing the witheld number for me, then they can let me know what network the person is on, which area they live in, and if I'm in regular contact with them or not. Then when the police get involved, they're allowed to give me the phone number to see if I know who it is...

On a similar theme, what about setting up the phone with a default silent ring tone, and then put all your family & friends into other groups with a proper ringtone ?
