Think this thread needs a bump for the new year.

Let's start with something that suits the snow, let's get Viking

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu2bgwcv43o

and after that, something that should warm the cockles!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7kJRGPgvRQ

and an aptly named band to finish us of with

I love this thread, back in it's heyday, people would post a few tracks in one post, some really obscure stuff sometimes, and it would lead to a great discussion about differing tastes in music.

Then, for some reason, people would just start posting random links, sometimes 10 at a time, in 10 seperate posts, with no description or anything, in a blatent attempt to raise their post count.

Let's see if we can get it back to it's former glory

Rossall, I agree, I love James Yuill. I think my favourite on his album is No Surprise

I just the mix of electronic and acoustic that he uses.

Couldn't agree more ES. Maybe it's worth posting the thread starters post:

If you have a Song/Band or Artist that you love ..why not visit this thread throughout the night and post your fave' tracks...don't listen alone....post the link to your track here and we can all enjoy the music!!!

.say why you like it and post the link....please leave at least 10 minutes after the previous post......happy listening.....
Anyway, here's my fav track from one of the first albums I bought, 'So' by Peter Gabriel, best known for the song Sledgehammer. Great song, great lyrics and a heartfelt vocal.

And here's my all time favourite Roxette track:

Do You Get Excited?

I was always amazed they didn't release it a single.

So I could post the rather excellent new video from The Pierces

And, from 1985 this is my favourite Pet Shop Boys single, which was the follow up to West End Girls

Here's one I recently discovered from Gould Brown & Black's album Terraforming. It has a nice chilled out feel and a great vocal from Berenice Scott.

I did have that on 7" single at one time..

Here's a latter day gem from Depeche Mode

Precious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts2DXY0zfLs&ob=av2e

I think that one sounds as if it could easily have been taken from their classic 'Violator' album which is surely no bad thing..

i never had that album, but liked the singles! it is funny you should mention that them in this thread. when i used to work through the night, stocking up in a shop. `enjoy the silence` was played a lot.

where the music came from i never found out. i know it wasn't a tape. anyway it was an extended version of the song. i found it quite scary! i never noticed it when it was played during the day. however, at night with hardly anyone around. i found it really creepy!

Nope, although the song does sound vaguely familiar.

I heard this on Manx Radio this morning, one of Ultravox's lesser known hits but a really beautiful new wave track I think.
