Who said they werent?
...And Gay guys in general I think do take more pride in their appearance or the guys I used to work with in Dickens and Jones certainly did.I would think that is a compliment and not an insult.

I see it as anti-gay, no matter if it was intentional or subconscious. And yes, it is based on a tired, boring old stereotype. I expected better of Dermot, but seeing as he works for Endemol, the arch perpetuator of tired old stereotypes, I shouldn't have been surprised.

Absolutely nothing at all if indeed you did have something to be up in arms about

Dermot's comment was nothing to do with 'taking care of one's appearance' and you know it

I thought it was terrible when Mikey accused Jennie of lying last night.

It's strange when people see things that are not there.

But you yourself keep calling Richard a camp queen and the likes, you're just as bad as they are.

It's not a compliment. It's a very lazy generalisation. He might as well say that all blacks have a great sense of rhythm - it's neither a compliment nor an insult, it just betrays a lack of intelligent thought.

I've always liked Dermot, but I've noticed this season that every time he mentions that Richard (supposedly) fancies him, he says something like "I'm scared!!".

And incidentally ...

What would anyone in the media say if they were asked this question? He knows which side his bread is buttered on.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, it's a good job you aren't a woman driver or you'd be in a continual fit of apoplexy because people say a lot worst about us than "they are clean". What a big big fuss about absolutely nothing!

That's how I saw it.

And call me a 'troll' or whatever goddamn word you want. I'm entitled to my opinion and I've got the right to air it with total sincerity on this messageboard.

He didn't say "all gays".

So you have automatically assumed the reason Dermot is "scared" of Richard is just because he was gay? What if Russell had said he was scared of meeting Lea? Would that be an "anti-straight" remark?

You're as entitled as anyone else here to make yourself look a trifle silly. We've all done it! Fill your boots...

YES. I've noticed the same thing. He sits there and squirms, cringing, looking as though he's about to wet himself with fear.

Thank you for at least acknowledging that there was some basis for my irritation.

Yes you are entitled, but you are wrong. Everyone else knows what the comment means except yourself.
You made a mistake, we all do it

No...I don't know it at all!

I don't think he said it in the way you took it and I certainly didnt...and most people here didnt!
I don't think even the useless Dermot would say something derogatory(sp) referring to anal sex on live TV.

Sorry, but none of my straight friends go on marches about their straightness, although I am thinking of starting up marches about singleness - "solo pride" or some such. It's nice to be different, isn't it? 'Citing!
