t mobile vs 3

which one is best for service, coverage and value for
money?
are there any 'hidden extras' that they don't show on their sites?

i have recently dropped my phone when I fell on the stairs, i have all the packaging, documents etc so I should get a replacement but can I switch to another network? [ i am on payg right now with 3 but to be honest I think a contract might be worth looking at, last month I had to top up twice and spent nearly £40!!! and that was using the phone in evenings and on weekends!!!
i am sure I can get a better cheaper deal. I saw a phone and package on t mobile that I really like but it's an 18 month contract so a bit wary about committing myself!! My phone use varies weekly, never mind monthly but I don't want to spend huge amounts on a PAYG phone if they won't replace this one [unlikely]

any suggestions or feedback welcome, thanks

3 have some good offers at the moment on contract or you could get a pay as you go phone and top up with £25 and get 500 voice min and 50 text but the T-Mobile flext tariff is good to here is the website for you to have a look at http://www.three.co.uk/priceplans/paymonindex.omp

It is a good deal I don't have it but my sister does and she loves it.

If you don't mind taking a fully-guaranteed Refurbished Handset you can get some great deals on most of the networks. One of the best is;

The Nokia N70r on 3.

Before I get shot down, I'd challenge you to find anyone who's had a bad experience of 3 when using the N70 - it's a great phone. Also the deal is phenomenal;

(WITH NO CASHBACK MALARKEY, BY THE WAY)

£15 per month for;

300 minutes
1000 texts (both doubled to 600 & 2000 for the 1st 6 months)
50 Minutes Video Calling
50 MMS
£5 Credit for Games, Ringtones, Videos, Music, etc.
Unlimited MSN Messenger
30Mb FULL internet browsing

But don't listen to me, I would suggest if you're interested to take the 14 day trial and see for yourself how good the network is when paired up with a decent handset such as the N70.

(Also available on the same deal is the Nokia 6280r but I'd recommend the N70 over it anyday.)

The above sounds like a great deal but one has to wonder just exactly how 3 manage to have all of these 'refurbished' handsets?

There appears lots of satisfied customers with N70's and 'refurtbished' models generally arise through customer returns during the 14 day period or are repaired handsets.

3 are not the only source of 'refurbished' handsets by any means but I note that e2save have many of their popular models available on this basis too.

Makes me kind of wary about why customers appear to be generating the levels of 'refurbished' handsets that appear to be available. The N70 itself appears pretty reliable and is feature packed so there has to be some other reasons for the volume of returns that justify both 3 and dealers creating whole additional catagories of offers to dispose of them.

A point worthy of some careful consideration.

I had my n70 for the best part of a year and never had a problem with it (unlike the poor saps on Orange, but that's another story).

Frankly, it doesn't matter WHY they have the handsets; the fact is they have, they work and there's a 14 day trial for anyone willing to see for themselves.

I agree, it IS a great deal. Kinda wish I hadn't taken out those 2 contracts last month now...

(Naah, I love me N80, honest!)

I beg to differ about the 'WHY' they have those handsets. They are clearly returns from dissatisfied customers which begs the question why you would want someone's returned goods when you can get a similar new one minus the maybes....

I now have an N80 too... not on 3 of course!! I have been quite impressed so far, more because of its Wi-Fi capabilities than anything else. It has some flaws though, battery hungry especially on Wi-Fi and Symbian can be slow to react and mine has crashed a few times too. There is a lot happening in that thing and whilst I can forgive some data problems I dont think I could live with it if it could not perform the basics (voice and texts) and on 3 in my area those are still a big problem and I believe thats why they can offer 'refurbished' current models hoping that customers with low expectations who want a cheap high spec handset will bite the bait.

The original main 4 networks will always be the best whether pay as you go or contract. Unfortunately for 3 they got off to a very bad start so most reviews will be bad. They have improved no doubt about it but still have a long way to go.

line rental appears to be half price so would go up in 18 months, alright I'm nit picking and it does appear to be a good deal, I would have to refer to terms and conditons but would probably like to cancel after 18 months....
sounds great though

But you can! It's an standard 18 month contract and you can give your 30 days notice to quit/leave at the start of month 17! You don't have to stay when the contract is up!

Wouldnt touch T mobile with a 40 foot barge pole simply because of the situation with coverage. Ive heard "3" is just as bad. Stick to voda,orange or o2.

My T-mobile coverage is better than my Vodafone, especially in regards to 3G reception.

I would choose T-mobile rather than 3 any day.

Vodafone is crap for signal I always have full signal on T-Mobile. Even 3 are better then voda but I wouldn't go back on them.
