3G Question
What frequency will 3G Work on? With O2 and Voda running on 900Mhz, and Orange and T-Mobile working on 1800Mhz, Orange and T-Mobile can sometimes have indoor reception problems due to it being on a higher frequency, as 1800Mhz is harder to penertrate stuff than 900Mhz. So whats 3G going to work on?
Also 3G network should be available any month now, with quite good tarrifs, but only 56% UK Population coverage but they have a "roaming" agreement with MMO2 to use there 3G Network for the non covered area's.

3G will use 2110 - 2170 Mhz so they will need a lot of base stations. This will cost them about as much as the licences did to bulid. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/716445.stm BTW 3G are having some major problems with roaming at the moment. The calls drop when they attempt to hand over to 2G network on O2.

Much, much more than the licences. ![]() Quote:

I think "at the moment" is stretching it a bit, as that was the "big story" this time last year. Given that the 2G networks were never designed to deal with mid-call hand-offs to a different network, it's not that surprising it didn't work first time.I've no doubt it'll be working by launch. ![]() Dave -- |
