DVR-440HX with Sky

I Have looked on the Pioneer site for some info on recording from a Sky digi box and the inbuilt Freeview tuner.

Can anyone tell me how/if the analogue tuner and Guide + automatically operates the Sky digi box to select different channels to record. Is there a link cable that operates the infrared to simulate manual channel selection.

Can the unit record from both Freeview and Sky (analogue) simultaneously. I presume you can watch say Sky when recording from Freeview.

I have read on the forum several comments about the fan noise and wonder if this is common to all of the 440/540 models or in fact to all hdd recorders.

Many thanks for any info.

Yes the Pioneer 440 and 540 both come with G-Link cables which have a transmitter that you place in front of your Sky Digibox or Sky+ box.

They can only record from one source at a time though, as far as I know. But you can of course watch your Sky box whilst recording from the built in Freeview tuner. You can also watch a previous programme recorded to the hard drive while recording another.

Guideplus, once setup, includes most of the popular satellite channels, making the Pioneers ideal recorders for Sky subscribers. I am probably going to cancel my Sky+ subscription once my year is up.
