"WWW.SMS.AC" help needed - how to deregister???
hi dudes
got a bit of a query regarding www.sms.ac my younger sis has been getting sms texts from this site from people she doesnt know telling her to check out the site, and each text she gets is being charged 50p just for recieving it she is really worried as she was not told of any charges, and as far as she knows is not regstered on the site she received a message telling her to stop the sms being received to send a "stop" text back to a 4 or 5 digit number will she be charged again for sending this?? or is it worth getting in touch with the website direct? also the site is very slow in loading up, can anyone help with direct contact info for these guys?? also does anyone else have similiar experiences and how they got on with these people?? being my younger sis im a bit worried for her as she is very good with looking after her phone costs wise, and she is worried these gits will take her to the cleaners with premium texts thanks in advance the_kop |

Your sis might as well bite the bullet and text stop back to the number as per instructions. In theory, it should work and the texts should cease and I would guess that it's better than receiving lots of texts at 50p a time.
The thing I would be concerned about is how sms.ac got her number in the first place if she apparently did not give it to them. Sticking sms.ac scam in Google will get some interesting results. I remember reading about this some time ago when my email inbox was flooded with all these emails from sms.ac with my "friends" wanting me to sign up to this thing. she probably has signed up without even realising that is what she has done - probably through a link as dslrocks said on an email from a friend.. I would definatly try texting stop back and see what you get, if not maybe try emailing them advising you are going to contact icstis.

Hey all! thanks for all the help, i see they are quite a dodgy outfitIn the end, it seems that my sis had unwittingly signed up for the account without realising what she had done. She feels a bit upset cos she really had no idea about having done it, as it was a case of accepting and forgetting about a free sms offer that she has remembered getting a year ago and prob entered her mobile number without thinking Anyhows we managed to retrieve some login info for her, and she had an active account linked to her phone. They have quite cheekily made no effort to contact her in the whole year till now, when they sent this msg from a "friend" asking her to use the site....anyhows i managed to get onto a deactivate section of the member page which i selected - hope it works??? if anyone has had the same prob and used the deactivate info plz let me know how u got on I agree that ignorance is not an excuse for my sister, but end of the day a 15 year old doesnt deserve to be conned in such a way...no1 else does at the same time, but to the manner in which they attempt to rip u off is really sneaky. |
