Earphones for ipod

My ipod earphones broke today, and having looked in the apple store for new ones which are the same i can't find them. I wanted the earphones that you get with the ipod (nano) but i cant find them anywhere - do they sell them separately?

Not usually, i recommend the Sennheiser MX500's though, or, if you fill in the online Apple iPod service thing (www.apple.com/uk/support/ipod) then you can get your old ones replaced, providing they're in warranty and not damaged by yourself.

The Sennheiser's sound much better though.

Not sure they're genuine, i know Apple don't make any black ones as of yet.

Oh, and the majority of the ones you see on eBay tend to be fake.

Better off with some Sennheisers anyway.

The ones they ship with the iPod are pretty average ... at best.

I had to replace two pairs recently. Got one pair of Sennheiser MX55s and one set of Sony MDR-EX71s. The Sonys are ten quid more, but they don't sound ten quid better - the Sennheisers have less weight to the audio so they're not going to impress if you like a lot of bass, but the sound is more natural. Plus the Sonys can transmit unwanted noises into your ears - I find I'm conscious of breathing when the music's quiet. The Sennheisers have a nifty twist-to-fit system to stop them falling out if you're out and about.

I use Sennheiser MX550s with my MP3 player. I'm not a fan of earbuds but these are actually very good. Also their carry case is great.

Ok since no one has pointed it out yet

YOU CAN GET THEM REPLACED FREE!

If you're still under warranty, go to apple.com and fill in the service form, and put that the earbuds need replacing and they will send you a pair for free in the post.

I have 3 pairs out of them now

I mentioned it.

You should read threads properly.

I bought a pair of these Creative headphones from Amazon for my ipod. I have to say they are amazing for the £12.99 pricetag and way outperform the headphones that come with the ipod. I think the frequency response even exceeds the Sennheiser ones!

If you click the link to the Creative headphones above look for the Koss Sparkplug earphones linked from that page.

I have a pair of the Koss and have nothing but praise for them. Outstanding sound quality (excellent bass and clear treble), very comfortable and just check out the price!! You may be wary paying that little for a pair of earphones as I was when I purchased mine, but they are fantastic! Highly recommended.

I've just got some shure e2 from ebay, so much cheaper then the apple site, which are amazing. It did take me a while to find a good fit (they give you a selection of bits) but no background noise at all. If you go the the apple site they have loads of different earphones with reviews.

Same here - I've had the Sure E2C's for nearly a year now with no problems and they blow the sound quality of the usual headphones away.

Also they block out external noise as well.

Well worth paying the extra money for them (they also come with a 2 year garantee).

You should beable to pick some up for just over £50 (inc of P&P + VAT).

I hate the iPod earphones, they just fall out. I bought some Phillips in-ear earbuds which actually fit into my ear which are cool.
