did you put brand new batteries in? It may be the ones you replaced it with are also low onpower or perhaps out of date?

I stopped using duracell batteries in my standard Sky (non sky+) remote, i don't know if its a duracell thing or the remote itself but ANY other brand of battery lasts for years.
Duracell, about 2 weeks before i got the symbol.
Note: My sky+ remote is still on the original batteries supplied by sky so i don't know what it'll do with duracell.

A quicker way to get this to bugger off is to go into interactive, then.... when you come out, its gone!....??

New Sky HD + box, within a few days showed low battery symbol and came up with a warning message batteries low.

Wife changed tehm.

But 2 weeks on, many channel changes, STILL got the low battery symbol on the banner .. irritating ..

Any more ideas on how to clear it .. or is a HD box different in this manner?

Mine's been stuck (new Duracell batteries installed) for 24 hours + now. I would therefore contend that it doesn't go away after a few channel changes for everyone.

I wonder why?

Don't be too quick to change batteries after getting a low battery warning. I got one for the first time a month ago, ignored it wondering how long it could go without changing batteries - and it's carried on working perfectly well ever since. I'm beginning to think it just threw a hissy fit that night.

My remote has been on "low battery warning" for 18 months now!!! But still works just fine.

Battery contacts oxidise after a while and good batteries look like bad ones when the poor contact limits the available voltage.
Simple solution - spin the batteries around while still plugged in.

Friction cleans the contact and the problem is solved

Of course, just putting the handset down focefully does the same thing
Wiping the contacts with alchohol will do best - 'Aftershave' or deodorant liquid is the same thing with a fragrance!

Battery Symbol "Tick"?

I had the banner warning of low batteries two days ago so I changed them for new.
The low battery symbol, (seen when pressing select), remained but I notice there is a black tick next to the symbol??

The original batteries are Philips in my Sky+ remote which was new in August.

'Old Spice of course!!!

(Seriously - Look at the bottle - if 'Alchohol' - of any type! - is included, it will do - but watch out:- some use oil(s) that may remain behind. Try on glass first - does it leave anything when dry? - does it smear?

I forget where the low battery symbol appears.
But the black/dark blue tick on the search and scan banner is a favourite channel?

The low battery icon appears on the search and scan banner , it is next to the Blue tick that appears if the blue button is pressed ( Fave channels )

Yes - the Tick is to indicate that you are on a Favourite channel.

Going into Interactive and out again got rid of my low battery symbol.

Thanks,
