What is the benfit of having them on there? I put a couple on it last night and it doesn't really do anything.

Am I missing something here?

It's a completely tacky un-necessary feature, which if implemented on any other player, would be tagged as that. But because it's an iPod.........

Yup.

I can display song lyrics on my player (it's not a iPod) and it's tacky and un-necessary. I've never used the 'feature' and doubt I ever will ....

If thats right, then that goes beyond the realms of tacky and pointless into the land of plain old stupidity. lol.

You can get lyrics to display in Windows too
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304619

Anyway it's only text, it's hardly going to make a program "bloated" is it?

If you press the centre button a few times whilst listening to a song that you have added lyrics for it should show them.

Ahhh, damn, you got me. Can't you just tell i don't use windows media player. It's a completely pointless feature, which to my mind would make it bloat! Things that are useful, aren't bloat!

It's no more pointless than having album artwork. Some people like to from time to time check the lyrics of a particular song. Nothing wrong with that. Since it's only text as someone said it's hardly going to bloat anything code or filesize wise. Plus it's not as if it's a prominent feature.

I must admit that I love to have the lyrics and album work of every song/album on my iPod because it's making the most of what I've got - I paid a couple of hundred quid for it, so I'll make the most of it. If you press the centre button a few times, the lyrics come up.

Why not just buy something cheaper, without the "extra" functionality, so you don't need to make the most of it!

Of course, by reading the lyrics, or looking at album art, you're also increasing your risk of your more expensive iPod being stolen.

I can get lyrics to display on my ipod but its too much hassle. If you want to get the most out of your ipod why not install rockbox or linux and play snes games on it

How do you display lyrics?....sometimes i sing along but forget a couple of lines. (on my own of course!) Is it built right into iTunes?
