This is not me spouting off about a particular format ,I just think this will be an interesting topic for discussion.
All three formats for recordable dvd will be available before the end of the year and we , that is the consumer , should have a say in the system that will be most widely accepted , all three seem to have their pro`s and cons and I certainly have my own opinions which I`ll chip in now and again as the dicussion unfolds , mainly I want to know which format you good people are expecting to be the best and more importantly ...WHY !
There`s stacks of places on the net for info on the subject and seeing as this will without doubt and at last herald the end of vhs its quite important , personally , I can`t wait to take my video down the yard and bloody well jump up and down on it .
I`ve absolutely no dobt in my mind that the electronic
" big guns ", ie, sony , philips, matsushita will once again attempt to bully the market , remember vhs versus betamax , so whats your thoughts ?

It's got to be DVD+RW because its compatible with existing players.

Yes.. sort of... DVD+RW is supposed to be compatible, but not necessarily completely compatible....Time will tell. It depends who you believe when you read the press releases.

Sadly the manufacturers are falling over themselves to be the maket winner here, whoever gets their standard apopted will make tons of money in licensing deals (like JVC does with VHS) So the consumer is second place here, the makers dont care whether theirs is the best for us or not, they just want theirs to suceed. The DVD+RW does look the likely winner if it lives up to what they say.
