Has anyone noticed that Eastenders seem to be using a lot of non-equity actors these days who don't get to speak?

For instance the woman serving in the shop who merely pointed and pulled a stupid face when asked where something was. Likewise various people in the Pub who get served without saying a word!

Has the wages budget been cut?

Having seen some of the acting by the cast remaining silent is probably a blessing in disguise!

That's because you have to get paid as an actor if you speak, but they can get away with paying you as an extra if you don't
