iPod Nano dead?
hi
im on holiday at the moment and wondering if you can help me with my relatively new ipod nano. it is unresponsive, wont turn on and when i plug it in to the mains, it has a funny whirring sound coming from it in, this only happens when it is plugged in. Restarting doesnt work or do anything! cannot restore as i am travelling. any words of wisdom? ASAP! I NEED MY MUSIC! #glitch# |

Well when you get home if you still have the receipt take it back.
As longs as it's within the guarantee. You'll get a new one. |

Turn the hold switch on, then off.
Press and hold Menu and Centre for 10 seconds, or until the Apple logo appears on screen. |

Im a little confused by the whirring sound you describe. The ipod nano is flash memory based, it doesnt have a hard drive, meaning: its got no moving parts.
Its possible that its crashed in a way that is causing its internal speaker to produce this noise, inwhich case rebooting in the process that Telly_Man described should solve it.. or waiting for the battery to drain out, then charging it again. If that doesnt work, its unlikely a restore will either, just get it replaced. Apple provide a 12 month warrenty. -Chris |
