Hi

Has anyone got, or is using the Push To Talk (PTT) feature on their Orange mobile phone?

How is it setup, do you have to ownload the settings?

I noticed it was launched with much publicity a while back but is it a hot feature to have?

Seems a good idea because its free within reason...

Certainly kept it quite. Was originally for business customers only, now available to all contract customers with a suitable handset I believe. However it is not free unlike in the USA.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that they're discontinuing this.

I believe you had to have certain phones to actually get it - not many of them supported. HUUUUGE in the USA, but never really took off over here!!

I was on the phone to Orange earlier about something unrelated to Push To Talk.

You see I have a Nokia 6233 which has a dedicated walkie talkie button on the side of the phone, it also has a PTT icon once your in the Menu.

Anyway I asked the customer advisor and he did say that Orange have discontinued the service as it was under-used.

Well I dont think it was widely publicised, I would have used it and most new phones have it now so I would have thought that it would have been a hit!

I would use it.

Don't know if other networks are planning to use it but like someone else said in the US it is very, very popular. More so then than the mobile phone and texting!
