hahaha - five have already catagorically said that sunset beach will never be screened again because of the fact that they dont have the rights to it anymore and it isnt a ratings winner so its just a waste of their money! they said they are NEVER showing it again yay!

I recall they said the same thing and then changed thier mind and brought it back

Things change in the world of tv! never is never really never by the way they have got to show somthing on this new channel and SB would bring in a loyal if small audeance

That's kind of pathetic, being happy about something like that.

I'm confident that SB's cult status will see it back on our screens eventually, whether it be sooner or later, and anything is worth a shot.

So don't be so negative... if you don't like the show and don't want it to return please don't bother contributing to this thread

In the meantime, those of us that do, or those that don't watch but would be happy to help those that do out, unlike yourself, will be trying our best to get it back!

True. I have sent them an email asking for it's return and even if it is only two episodes per week it's better than not at all

Here, Here well said! - channel 5 states they no longer have the rights to the show - big deal! the rights can be re-aquired. They can easily be shown again by AGAIN obtaining the rights. Now channel 5 wants to do well and yes fair enough sunset beach didnt do well in the ratings 2nd time round however first time was totally different and was top 10 day-time telly. They even had a helpline when the show ended - Five:life is the best contednder for sunset beach and they will need to fill up the listings with something - otherwise were gonna be stuck with the usual channel 5 day programs that will be shown thousands of times and have been shown thousands of times.

Look at Sunset Beach history -
First Time round - Over the 3 yrs its became a cult classic and was a big hit for channel 5.

second time - ITV2 bought the rights!

3rd Time - Back on channel 5 by incredibly popular demand!
after ep 115 it was taken off day time but yet again returned to late night viewing!

Also in that time a remember the ep 185 saga - so many fans pulled together to get that episode shown!

Lets face it tho - how can u even imagine getting good ratings in a grave yard slot!

So i urge anyone who has even just maybe seen it once and enjoyed that maddness off it - to contact channel 5!

makes me laugh because in the early days of channel 5, of course sunset beach would have done well as all their early programmes did poorly!!!

Yes, exactly.

When they started they weren't getting great ratings because they were just getting on their feet but Sunset Beach was a noteworthy exception!

Anyway, you could argue that nowadays isn't much better. In this day and age, what with multichannel tv offering hundreds of channels to choose from to some viewers, it's even harder to get good ratings for shows.

So that's not really a great point to be honest. There's nothing to say Sunset Beach couldn't be an instant hit on one of their new channels given the right timeslot and the right advertising - especially if they bring back the omnibus!

Ok, i hope they decide to bring it back! just to show you ppl that it will soon be gone again because it never stays around because it isn't very good. i tried getting into it when it used to be on before Sons & Daughters on Five & i just couldn't. it just seems fake to me what with wooden actors and stories & come on i mean... ZOMBIES in a soap?!?

*sigh*... some people get SB, some people just don't.

It might not be good in your opinion... but I think you'll find it has a very solid, loyal fanbase.

Just look at the SB thread and see how many pages long that is!

Exactly!!
Someone mentioned above about channel 5 not being very good when it launched, but as you said, SB was the exception and did excellent for the channel.
When the new channels launch, they will be 2 of hundreds of channels competing on cable/sky/freeview.
So i doubt both channels will feature great programming, so putting SB on one of them could be like the launch of channel 5 again, with alright programmes, but SB being the exception and helping the channel!

When SB was on five last time in repeats, it was still getting a few hundred thousand, and if that was on a one of the many digital channels, it would be a success!
