Can anyone help? I have a Region 1 Pioneer DVD player and a multiregion Pioneer portable. Whenever I try to view any of my Region 1 American DVDs through my video projector the picture is b+w and rolls. I understand that this is because both players convert from NTSC to PAL 60 and not regular PAL 50. It may also have something to do with Macrovision. What can I do about this? I don't want to have to repalce equipment. Can I buy/make a simple conversion unit?

i have heard that macrovision does cause a problem with some video projectors - i have a seleco svp350 projector and a modified sony 725 dvd player (macrovision and region free/autodetect) and have had no problems at all
in this case i think it sounds more likely that your projector has a problem with the 60 hertz output rather than the macrovision as i would've expected macrovision to also have affected your r2 playback does your videoprojector support 60 hertz - in general most should support the majority of world television standards (it should say in the manual - if not it might be worth checking out the video projector forum on the homecinemachoice website) |

The projector is a vidikron and the manual says that it only supports PAL (50Hz). The DVD manual says that NTSC signals will be coverted to modified PAL ie PAL 60 Hz. Unless I can adjust the projector I think that I will need a system convertor from NTSC to pure PAL or just a PAL 60 to PAL 50 convertor. I'll try the home cinema bit.
