You will need to report the theft to the spanish police if you want to claim your phone back on insurance if you are PAYG.

I think 02 is Movistar in Spain. Spanish police or your tour rep should be able to help.

get it reported as quickly as possible - they'll probably hold you liable for any costs the thief has run up after it was stolen, if its a contract phone!!

08X numbers rarley work from aborad - hence why my credit/debit cards all have a UK area code on them too - change the +44 to 0 and you can ring them cheaper in the UK.

Hey i didnīt think that an 0870 number would work from the phones over here.

BTW it was a PAYG phone, I had the network AMENA but it did sometimes change to MOVISTAR.

The hotel were i am is a shit hole, has anyone got a geographic number ie not 0870 for o2?

Thanks once again.

Try this website, hope it helps
http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php

Just type in o2 in the business name and it will give you a list of alternative geographical numbers for o2

You should be able to call any 0870 number from abroad

0800 numbers will not work from abroad

Hi i got a number from saynoto0870.co.uk and i rang them so they said they will cancel the sim card and block the phone so whoever nicked canīt use it.

How can they do that if they have removed the sim card?

Also they are sending me a replacement sim card with the same number and iīll also get my free texts etc.

Thanks for everyones help, much appreciated.

As already mentioned 0870 numbers should work abroad, they will certain work in CAMEL agreement countries such as Spain, and you wont even need to put in the +44 part.

Glad you got it sorted out and hope it didn't spoil your hols too much

What they do is block the IMEI number of the phone, this means that anyone who puts any sim card in the phone will get a message saying "invalid sim" or something like that.
It will render the phone totally useless

In the UK at least. Has this been extended to a pan-EU level yet? If not do the like of T-Mobile share the data with there sister companies?
