After talking to various colleagues and customers, who use this system, it seems concensus of opinion that it seems to take considerably longer to connect into the gps system than it did a year ago, especially in the morning rush.
Various theories have been suggested, but the most popular is along the lines of saturation usage, and the system being under resourced , along the lines of insufficient bandwith for internet access, anybody out their who could expand on this ,

Many thanks in anticipation,

you are usually very clever informed people.

i'm not sure but i shouldnt have thought that number of users would have any impact. Satnav is a one way system, it sends a signal, your tomtom picks it up. all processing of that signal is performed on your device.

The sats wont know if they are broadcasting to 1 or 1,000,000 users. dont know why it would be slower?
