Just started using Freetalk, 3 days ago, and I can honestly say, I'm very impressed, so far.

I got this for my Son, who was wishing for a "landline" phone in his room. As he said he would pay any monthly fee, I looked around and was recommended Freetalk.

I bought the modem, got home, connected it to my switch/router and shortly after*, it was working.

Clear sound. No crackling etc. Unlimited** Local/National calls and all for £6.99 per month***

Plus I can use it on my Telewest/Blueyonder cable broadband via my router. No need for BT landline!

Now my lad is as happy as a pig in sh......!
So, if anyone is looking for a good service, I recommend Freetalk.

Would something like VoIP Stunt been better?

50p per week for 300 mins per week to UK, USA, Australia and many other countries.

That 50p per week can then also be used on chargeable calls.

You pay 10 Euro plus 16% VAT every 120 days (works out at about 50p per week), no worrying about running up a bill as you just top up the account every 120 days.

The great thing is even though you pay the 10 Euro for 4 months service with those 300 free mins per week, the mins are free because you have the whole 10 Euro to spend on any chargeable calls you make.

You just need to either use software phone, or buy an ATA (Analogue Telephone Adaptor) which you just plug in your regular phones.

Already bought the Freetalk Broadband Home Phone Adaptor. My lad is paying the £6.99 p/m so that'll do me

I suppose if he is paying then no need to worry.

I'm just having a little problem at the moment, due to over utilisation of the UBR I am on, means I'm getting some packet loss on the download side, those means I get occasional glitches on my incoming audio, was alright until this week.

Do VOIP Stunt give you an incoming number ? A lot of these 10 Euro per 90/120 day operators have stopped giving them out.

All of the Finarea / Betamax offerings have recently stopped issuing VoIP-in numbers.

I signed up for services when they first came into being, so have incoming numbers with them.

However I have a Sipgate number, which I use as my main number, as I had that just before the Finarea / Betamax ones.
