Basic question regarding Sim cards

This is a very basic question I'm sure, but thought I would double check anyway. I had a Vodafone phone which is now broken beyojd repair and now want to buy a new phone. I am going to buy a new Vodafone phone. Basically will the SIM card of the old phone work in any new Vodafone phone as they're both Vodafone? Or does that not matter and would still need to get the new phone unlocked to use the old SIM card as well as the new one?

As long as you buy a phone with vodaphone or the phone is already locked you have no problem.

If in doubt, contact vodafone.
