basically not according to sales, but to how many people like them, popularity and musical talent.

But those things do equal sales. Surely you should ask according to personal taste?

I think this is too subjective to come up with a definitive answer. My personal music taste is so eclectic that I find it hard to choose a "best" but suffice to say very few post 1980 bands make my list.

And it depends on my mood.

But the two bands I would never switch off if they came on the radio are AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

Muse are fantastic. A few of my other faves would have to be Snow Patrol, Keane and most recently Orson.

It's a very rock friendly forum isn't it?
My favourite band of all time is Chic and I can't see that ever changing. Nile and Bernard were just magicians.

think its rock friendly cause most dance or similar genre are one middle aged or teenage guy with a pooter and a collection of baseball caps ,not what one could call a band really

chic le freak

I haven't bought their new CD yet.
But I loved Absolution. I believe they are on tour at the moment.

Current bands as in in the chart RIGHT NOW? Christ that's hard, almost everything in the charts is derivative and dull as dishwater. I like that Cassie single, but she doesn't count as a band I guess.. what about Bugz in the Attic - they've skimmed the charts and are pretty damned good!
