I was asked, is it possible to be able to add the three sets of Pids and not just be stuck on the first one.

To get another set in you have to do a factory reset which is a pain. Do you know of a way round it with a Tap?

I've been waiting to see what was said .. what is a Pid?

theres an option on the toppy to add Pids when searching for channels, i tried it once while trying to avaoid duplicate channels, then i discovered the wolfbane site, and searched using the UHF channel numbers instead, as i couldnt get the Pids to work.

You can manually add audio,video and pcr pids to channels in the toppy but you can only do it once per mux(channel), so if you were tuned in on channel 40 say.Transmitted on 40 not channel no 40 you could only add one set of pids even though more than one digital channel transmit on that channel.If more are entered it only recognises the first set of pids.Say you are one of the unlucky ones who cannot get Film4 and you wanted to give your toppy its best chance.

I too would like to know if there is a work arround this.

To get there to add pids press menu,installation,service search,then on search mode select advanced.The pid menu comes up and you can manually add the pids you want to try.
Have fun and perhaps somebody can help with the main problem.

Usually, the reason people want to add them manually is because they're too mean to pay for the MHEG-protected services, such as porn or Setanta sports. And as such, they couch their requests in vague terms, hoping to avoid breaching the DS terms and conditions.

There is, as far as I can see, no need at all in normal use to enter a PID manually into the Toppy.

Hi Nigel from your post you obviously hav`nt tried to "sniff " out weak sat feeds that are on or near threshold as your receiver cannot get a signal and the only possible chance is to manually enter the audio and video pids.
A case in point is if you want to receive Fox Sport on Eutelsat 16 deg if you want to watch the cricket.Yes you could subscribe to Sky Sports but as its unscrambled and totally in the clear unlike Setanta that you mentioned. If your receiver lets you manually input these you can sometimes lock the signal.The footprint of this is aimed at the UAE.
Okay we should`nt watch but it is`nt scrambled and not illegal, the fun is getting every last drop out of the signal.
This applies to satellite only but I talked to a bloke from Edinburgh who could`nt receive Film4 but could every other channel, unfortunately he could`nt manually input pids on his terrestrial receivers to try as it was`nt possible.
If he had a Nokia or toppy or better still give a value for a receivers tuners sensitivity then as you say perhaps pids would`nt be important.

No, I don't have satellite; but it's fairly irrelevant to the Toppy 5800 the original poster was asking about, which is just a terrestrial box, so I think my guess as to why they want to add 'the three sets of pids' is fairly accurate.
