BT really are a bunch of muppets !

Since last Friday we haven't been able to make any outgoing calls which are chargeable on our home phone. We can make as many free calls as we like - anything starting with a "1", 0800 numbers, etc is fine.

BT say that they can't fix it until Thurdsay, allegedly because we need an engineer visit. I've argued with them till I'm blue in the face that the fault is in the exchange, and we don't need an engineer, but they are adamant.

What a bunch of muppets !

(Rant over, thanks )
Zero gravitas.

Tell em you're going to switch to NTL and see what happens.

We don't have NTL here. They know they have us over a barrel.

I worked for BT for quite ahwile. It does sound strange to me; sounds more like some kind of barring...nothing to do with a problem requiring an engineer! I'm assuming there is no bill issue? Or some sort of change to your line?

Did you ask to speak to a team leader?

Shouldn't this have been posted in the telephony forum?

We pay by DD in a budget plan. We're currently £75 in credit. That's going to change. I'm not giving BT interest-free cash in exchange for crap service. I can never speak to a real person at BT, not even in Calcutta. It's "Press 1 for this", and "Press 2 for that" all the time

I hate BT, they are idiots. I was barred from my phone and they didnt lift it even though I had paid my bill. I called them up constantly asking why and all I would get was someone telling me 'oh it will be it will just take x hours from now'. Transpires after several days of phone calls that they wouldn't lift it becasue £1 was left outstanding on the bill which they didn't tell me about! (I paid by card over the phone so whoever had taken my payment obviously put in the wrong amount). I was more than a little furious.

I know, it must be a pain in the arse for you. They should be able to just lift the bar for you...I don't know what they are playing at.

If you are not having much luck with 150 try ringing 151 which is the faults line, assuming you haven't done this already.

Definitely a barring issue (unpaid bill etc.), not an engineer job.

Monthly 'Whole Bill Direct Debit' solves all such problems (and saves money on line rental too).

Get yourself onto that a.s.a.p.
