Problems sending texts with Nokia 8310 on Orange PAYG
Hi everyone - hope someone can help me out here
![]() Basically my phone (which I brought a week or so ago off QXL) turned up today and it works fine - except for one small problem - I can't send out text messages It receaves them okay, I can make calls, and I also have no problems checking the answer phone (123 on Orange). My SIM is an Orange PAYG which I've had since early 2000.I'm pretty sure it's setup the same as my old phone for handling text messages (i.e. same service number) so I'm really not sure what's going on. One thing I have noticed as that there's an icon in the standby display next to the keypad lock symbol - I've never seen this before... I can only describe it as a black box, with one white pixel down in the right hand corner, and a white rectangle towards the top... I can't find anything about this in the manual. Thanks if you can help me with that, and whilst I'm here, it appears the phone has already had it's IMEI number used to register for Club Nokia... does this mean I can't register for this now as it's second hand, or can I contact Customer Services and explain that I've brought the phone second hand (and provide the sellers contact details for validation)? |

Originally posted by CrystalAvenger I have the same phone, I have no symbol near the keypad lock symbol when in standby mode. I will have a look through the manual today and get back to you if I see something. Just a thought though is it possible to disable message sending in one of the settings menus?

Well just to update you, I'm now able to send texts again (hooray!) after checking the message service number on other Orange Nokia users phone (they're on contract but it doesn't seem to make any difference - the text was still only 10p which for me is normal) but I still have the icon which nobody else seems to have
Someone did suggest that it looked a bit like a handbag though...
