Telephone Preference Service

Does anyone have any experiences with the Telephone Preference Service actually doing anything about unwanted calls. We signed up for it a couple of years ago to stop calls to ex-directory number but now they are starting again. I have read that although they can fine companies up to £20,000 they never have done.
Any stories - good or bad?

TPS registration lapses after a period of time - you need to ensure that you're still registered before complaining.

In order to complain you need as much detail as you can get from the cold-callers.

Source?

Edit: Just found this on tpsonline.org.uk
Quote:
“16. Do I need to renew my subscription with the TPS?

If you have registered a residential number or a number belonging to a sole trader or (except in Scotland) partnership, you do not need to renew. However, if you have registered a number on to the Corporate TPS belonging to a Limited company, Plc or other large organisation, are you required to renew annually. In this case TPS will send you an e-mail each year to notify you of this. Failure to renew will result in your number(s) being removed from the CTPS data file.”

Don't bank on it - I've had to do mine 3 times to get it to 'stick' since I moved house.....

If you input your phone number here and press continue it will automatically confirm whether the number is currently registered

https://secure.dma.org.uk/cgi-bin/se...reg_option=tps

If not, you can continue to register it - if you move house then you may well need to re-register.

Note it can take up to 28days for registration to become active

I've found it stopped almost all the calls, but some from abroad still get through.
I assume they don't have any authority abroad.
