Living proof, that old is always the best! If CRT and LCD were to have a fight in the boxing ring, CRT would only need to punch the the flat ba**"rd once in it's poxy fake screen stomach and instead of blood, all of it's INKY FAKE colours would run everywhere leaving CRT the ultimate champion!!!

but LCD is much saving energy as i own Philips 32" LCD -- still great for near 1 year & no problems at all - it much bright and very clear picture -- 32" LCD weight is 18.4Kg that not heavy as it much lighter...

u stupid ass, just cause u can't see the difference that's clear to people even with the worse eyesight!

for the record, i'm 19 years old and i do have a Samsung LE26R73BD, i'm just a bit let down that the pic is rubbish and how people are conned into buying LCD's at like 2 grand for some of them, when the picture on them is much more false, blotchy, blurry that on a CTR, plus they can only cope 100% on still scenery, and that's what the professionals who know what they're talking about have said and that's all of them, every single god dam LCD out there, even yours, if you've got 1. like i say, get up close to it and you will see STRAIGHT AWAY

I saw it in action and asked, "Is this how the picture is going to look when I take it home?" " he actually agreed and said, "Yes mate"

I agree with you to a small extent, but you don't have to force your ideas like that on other people. I'm happy with my LCD- not 100% but it will do as a stop gap before better tech and the advanced in High Definition progress further and become mature.
My Samsung does exactly the same, however i'm discussing it like an adult over in AV Forums and on hear incase i have a duff set...its true that R7 does blur on horizontal movement some people don't see it and some do- and if incorrectly set up the pic can be quite bad- but how can you tarnish all LCD screens with the same brush? - i have seen some expensive Philips and Toshiba screens that look awesome.
There are people on both sides of this argument who need to chill out- its only a panel of plastic glass and wires- LCD's no matter what people say still have the problems- but so do CRT's Palsmas DLP's etc etc.. if you are happy with the pic then fine.

They look awsome because in store, they sometimes use HD pics on them with not much movement in them. I asked the Curry's man about this, he said, "Yes, notice how all the HD demos in here are of slow moving things" By the way, I don't hate my TV, I'm getting used to it now I know it happens with all LCD screens and I suppose from a distance it can look good. He admitted this and all the things of my above post after he told us a load of bull about how it is a problem with Sky, you need to ring them and what av u!

I think much of the problem is that buying or asking for advice from Currys, Comet or other box shifting sheds sell what their managers tell them to sell and not what is right for the customer.... someone that sells fridges, hotplates ,PC packages as well as top end TV/Video really can't specialise in any one of those....also you can't just assume that because something is new is better.....

Well LCD shows up artefacts more, it also takes a LOT of adjusting to get right, but am overall happy with the picture, including blacks.

One thing i notice when I see a large CRT is the great amount of flicker that I didn't really notice before I went to LCD. As another poster said a while ago it is particularly noticeable if you look just above or to the side of the screen. Probably not good for the eyes I wouldn't think. And HD on my Bravia S Series, well there's no comparison with CRT!

The above is the same bull being used by LCD supporters on every thread.
They know the pix are crap,we know the pix are crap,the salespeople know the pix are crap,but while mugs shell out for sexy cabinets that look better off than on,they'll keep selling them.
Unfortunately,with HD broadcasting already here and the majority of the public not caring less about quality or even recognising it,LCD/plasma sets ARE the way forward.
I'm in the market for a new set within a year and I will buy an LCD/plasma,but I'm hoping that HD broadcasting and HDDVD players are more readily available than they are now.
LCD dos look awesome if you are 20 feet away,up close its dross.
The usual get out clause is that its not setup properly and of course Curry's/Comet etc don't come out well in that deaprtment.
However,as I posted on another thread,I've seen sets in Sevenoaks Sound and Visions,Richer Sounds and even the high end retailers in Central London and not one has had me gasping at any improvement with DVD or Sky.
As Jarrak(a pro LCD poster) points out on another thread,SD pictures will not look very good on LCD,especially pix from Sky with its low bitrate mess ,and DVD is the best that SD will give you,yet even upscaled the difference is not worth the expense.
I'd love to have a nice thin screen on the wall,but until HD is available or I can adjust my viewing to 20 feet,I'll stick with CRT and its incredible bulk

However,as I posted on another thread,I've seen sets in Sevenoaks Sound and Visions,Richer Sounds and even the high end retailers in Central London and not one has had me gasping at any improvement with DVD or Sky. As Jarrak(a pro LCD poster) points out on another thread,SD pictures will not look very good on LCD,especially pix from Sky with its low bitrate mess ,and DVD is the best that SD will give you,yet even upscaled the difference is not worth the expense. I'd love to have a nice thin screen on the wall,but until HD is available or I can adjust my viewing to 20 feet,I'll stick with CRT and its incredible bulk

Each to there own, a lot of people are happy with there LCD's so who are we to tell them its rubbish when it suits there purpose & needs. Some people research before they buy, others go in head first & later ask WHY?
