East 17 reunion turns sour after bust-up

Friday, August 25 2006, 16:16 BST - by Susanna Regan
The reunion of nineties boyband East 17 seems to have been short-lived as songwriter Tony Mortimer has been pushed out of the line-up.

With plans to film a behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling their return to the spotlight, the band recently reformed and began work on a new album.

However, old tensions proved impossible to overcome as an argument broke out between Mortimer and lead singer Brian Harvey over punctuality.

Fellow bandmember John Hendy told The Sun: “Brian refused to work with Tony again after their punch up. Brian thought if Tony reacts like that every time he’s late, then what’s the point. I don’t think Tony’s heart was in it really. There was too much of an ego clash between him and Brian."

“We have carried on with just the three of us and did a gig in Russia the other week, which was mental...Brian wants us to try it all again with just us and Terry [Coldwell]. But I’ve got my roofing company to think about. I don’t know if I want to give up the business I’ve built up to dance on stage," Hendy added.
hope its not true, would have been good to get a new album

It's only been done because Take That did it.

It'll be the Spice Girls next.

I don't think an East 17 reunion would be anywhere near as successful as the Take That reunion. They never had the same buzz around them at the time and the nostalgia isn't the same.

Speaking of which, I got the Take That Ultimate Collection yesterday and it's brilliant!

Sorry but all I can do is snigger.

They couldn't get on first time round and no way were they ever going to sell out like Take That did.

They couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery.

It works for Take That because they were far more successful and popular - even without Robbie they sold out even the added dates.
