Laura was dancing with quite a few people but we only saw a shadow of the person who walked her home when she came out of the club so I guess we are going to have to wait 8 1/2 months to find out

I thought I read on one of the newspapers that it is Paul Truman who is the father and Ian goes mad when the baby is born as it will be black.

Then again, Gus might also be a possibility, we havn't seen much of him and he may be hiding because he has realised what happened that night and is ashamed in case he runs into Laura in the street.

Erm, wouldn't this black-baby-shock only be a shock if the viewers and characters had previously assumed the baby was Ian's?

Since Ian and all the viewers know it's not his, much of the shock would be lost.

It was posted in todays Daily Star, (not my newspaper, it was sitting there and it was all that was available, and I was bored so I had to read it, personally, I'd read the Mirror), that the father IS Garry Hobbs, husband of Lynne Slater.

On Christmas Day episode 1Ian kicks out Laura and then starts to search for the father. And on Christmas Day episode 2 Jamie dies in hospital of a failed liver.

I heard it was Garry AGES ago because Lynne is supposedly pregant too and so he was going to be the father of 2 children.

This could just have been a rumour started because Garry and Laura are going out in real life.

I also thought this would be a great story line. Months of not knowing and then a black baby in the delivery room. Laura would have some explaining to do then, imagine the look on their faces.
I've heard the real father is revelaed on Xmas day. After Ian tells her he can't have kids she goes to the father. My money is on Gary, i bet he gets Lynne pregnant too and the story line will take a new turn, dumb Gary with two kids on the way...it would be funny to watch.
