I've just watched all the old episodes with it it and although it's not stated they do seem to have quite a bond.

Clearly the scene in Doomsday (or was it AOG?) where the Doctor uses (such a harsh word) his sonic screwdriver to break the glass in his "shattering the walls between dimensions" demonstration demonstrates the depth of his love for the sonic screwdriver!

"The Doctor obeyed, sending the silver shape slithering across the floor. As it came to rest, the Leader fired, and the sonic screwdriver exploded, bursting into flames. The Doctor looked at the twisted strip of smoldering metal, unable to believe what he saw. 'I feel as though you've just killed an old friend.' "

The scene from the Visitation that was meant to get rid of the Sonic Screwdriver!

Really, you know it SHOULD be "Where the DOctor in love with his sonic screwdriver?"

I imagine the Doctor has a relationship with his sonic screwdriver far and beyond anything they could show on TV.

[pedant] Or did you mean "were"?

That's wrong also as the correct term should have been "is". [/pedant]

Is the Tardis jealous of the sonic screwdriver?

What a load of nonsense. The Sonic screwdriver is a plot device, overused in my estimation, in the new series.

Typical of DS - a silly thread develops a sexual content.

Why is this thread distasteful?
Clearly it's your mind that's twisting this conversation into something it's not. The Doctor obviously does have a relationship with his Sonic, the same way I have a relationship with my phone, its the same thing.
With my phone though, its more of a love hate relationship. How it hasn't been thrown out of my car window onto the M5, I don't know.

I wouldn't have thought do. She gave him one (a new screwdriver) at the end of The Eleventh Hour.

Sexual? Surely not...

The Sonic Screwdriver is merely a tool, long, with a bulbous end, easy to handle.
And as the Doctor himself says in Inferno - "If you have a tool, it's stupid not to use it!"

"What are you going to do - assemble a cabinet at them?" Classic!
