iTunes Question

Hi, I've had itunes for a while now and keep noticing when I add songs to the library, iTunes likes to make copies of the songs and add them into the iTunes music, instead of just using the original copy which is in another folder.

How do I stop iTunes making a second copy of all my songs and wasting so much memory?

it seems to me that the reason for this is because the songs that you are adding are not either mp3, aac, or m4u

Hi

Go to Itunes then Preferences - then the advanced tab.
There is an option which is probably checked on yours which says
"Copy files to Itunes music folder when adding files"

If you uncheck this box you should be ok

It's not checked.

Are you copying them in the same format, I think ITUNES will only make a copy if you were inadvertently copying an MP3 for instance and the burning options on Itunes were AAC, it would make another copy because it was converting
