Buying tracks for Ipod

I've just bought a couple of audio books online using ITunes.

What happens when I want to remove it from my Ipod without losing it forever. Can I copy it to somewhere and remove ot from the labrary?

When you bought it it must have gone to your Library, so unless you delete it from there, it should still be there.

But when I update my Ipod, it duplicates my library. How cn I stop things being transferred to my ipod?

Right-click your iPod in iTunes and turn off automatic updates.

Thanks

When I investigated a bit futher, I found the box that says only update the marked tracks. So I clicked that one and it seems to do what I want to. So it still automatically updates, but excludes the things I've unticked.

I am feeling pathetically pleased with myself
