Panasonic ES20D Freeview shadow detail blue?
MrBump

I wonder if any one can tell me if my newly aquired Panasonic ES20D is faulty?

I noticed last night, that any object that is in shadow has a strong blue cast.
This is particularly noticable on faces, where the highlights are a nice normal skin tone, but any shadows on the face are blue.

The effect is grows in intensity with the depth of shadow and sometimes makes actors faces look like they are wearing a blue face mask.

Is there any chance this is a problem (i.e. reception) other than with the machine itself?
There are no dropouts and the signal strengh is near the top end of the signal meter on the ES20D.

It does this on all channels and I have tried changing the scart and using the rf input, with no change.

I doubt that it's a reception issue, especially in a digital signal, where colour is well embedded into the code.

Does your TV have colour temperature or balance controls? Sometimes described as "Warm", Cool", "Normal" etc? That might help.

Mr Bump, did you ever get this problem sorted because my ES20 has also started displaying similar symptoms tonight?

Hi Guys

Thank for the replies.

You'll be glad to hear softlad, that the problem seemed to go away on it's own within 24hrs?
I'm wondering now if the problem was with the transmitter in my area....low power etc?
Anyway, there hasn't been a problem for some time now, however, I'm keeping my receipt handy for a while yet! lol

Thanks again.

Hi,
I have an EH60D which displayed the same symptoms last night; however it is back to normal today.
cheers.

I've just got home from work and switched it on and, sure enough, it seems to be back to normal. Strangest thing though. I think I'll keep my receipt handy as well given some of the other problems I've had with it not liking ram discs very much. Thanks everyone.
