Just noticed today, when ringing a landline number the calls from my Voipcheap service are now being charged at 1p/min, the call rates on the voipcheap website have also been ammended to show the new call rates, looks like the 120 day limit on the credit has gone now as well as the free calls. oh well, that was good while it lasted i suppose.

Erm on the front page it says they're free but with this disclaimer (that's been there a while) : "* Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded, a minimal rate will be charged (as advertised on our rates page). "

Yes i know what it says on the front page of the site (i'm guessing that will be changed soon?), but i'm no where near the 300 minutes a week, on the call rates link it's now showing at 1p/min, like i said, it was good while it lasted.

That sounds remarkably like what I just read on the FreeCall home page.

I know most of these guys are the same people - but sometimes it gets silly !

BTW I just had an email off freecall saying they were still free (300 min/wk limit) and they had dropped the credit timout period.

Can't try it though, as I don't use XP !!

Have you gone past the 120 days ? Only asking because I haven't on another of their stable who have the same rates and warning shown and all my calls this morning were tagged as free.

Mine are still showing as free, a 30min call yesterday to Spain was listed as free.

One thing though - I signed up to voipcheap.com not .co.uk not sure if this makes a difference???

.com is still, saying free at the moment, i'm no where near past the 120 days either, i only added £10 credit last week and still had 115 days left last time i looked on Sunday.

Looks like voipcheap.com customers could have a nasty suprise coming as well, still all saying Free on the front page at the moment, however the rates page says different, looks like they are updating the sites!...

And a quote from that site:

***NEW - In the last week of August 2006 the Betamax group changed their credit expiry policy (probably due to legal requirements in Germany). They now offer so called "Freedays". Any credit in your account will now no longer expire. After the 120 (90) "Freeday" period the calls will be charged at the rate published in their rates schedule. Should you however add funds to your account before your credit expires then your total credit will remain valid and your "Freeday" period will be extended by a further 120 (90) days***

Ok, so if i'm reading that right i should still have 112 days of free calls left even though i'm now being charged for them?, i only added the credit last week!

I have been getting charged on voipcheap.co.uk aswell. Just running out of credit. I signed up for voipcheap.com to take advantage of cheaper mobile calls today too. I will be livid if uk calls are no longer free.

The rates have changed. This is pretty depressing after having not long bought my ATA.

I wont be buying any credit again as it will actually be more expensive than using our normal landline for local calls and we dont make any international calls.

Yes, the listed rates changed yesterday or the day before (I forget now).

I'm still getting free calls to the destinations they say are free, what should happen is you get 300 mins free each week to the listed destinations, after 300 mins you are then charged at the displayed rate. I think they have changed it this way as some of the free call destinations are now more than 1c or could be more than 1c when you run out of free mins.

I am still getting free calls.

It looks like voipcheap.co.uk are making no mention of free calls anymore at all that will be why I have been charged without reaching my limit. voipcheap.com have changed their rates but are still offering 300 mins a week of free calls at the moment. Phew (For now.) Not 11.60 euros wasted then.

On VoIP Cheap.co.uk it states:

* Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded, a minimal rate will be charged (as advertised on our rates page).

I have added my last 10 days of free calls up and they are well under 300 mins and I am getting charged, any one else suddenly getting charged on voipcheap.co.uk?

Also you can no longer make a free trial call as it disconnects you saying that this destination is not free. (voipcheap.co.uk).

Yep, and i only added the credit last week and i'm well under the 300 minute limit, i wont be adding any credit again once this has run out!, infact i'm begining to think that the whole voip idea is going downhill a bit lately, i was thinking about going to freetalk a few weeks back and dropping the landline, look whats happened to freetalk now as well! i'm glad i didn't drop my landline afterall.

Hmmm, now this is strange!, i have just registered a new account with voipcheap.co.uk and it's giving me a minute of free call time and then cutting me off (i have no credit on the account), on my old account with credit on it, it's charging me 1p/min.

Now i'm confused!

same deal as the rest of you. My colleague and I are both being charged 1p/min for UK calls.

Their website still says calls are free up to 300 mins so what they're doing is illegal. However they're not a UK company so very hard to pursue it

On voipstunt/voipcheap.com when your freedays are up, do you then get more free days when you by more credit or do you only get freedays the first time?

You must have missed this

"Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded, a minimal rate will be charged (as advertised on our rates page). With your FREE DAYS you can call for free to all the destinations listed as free! when you have no FREE DAYS left the normal rates apply. You can get extra Freedays by buying credit "

Hmmm, it says that on voipcheap.co.uk now as well, so whats happened to the 112 "freedays" that i'm still supposed to have now?, looks like i have been well and truley ripped off by voipcheap dosen't it?
