Problem with eit2mei
Down with Dotun
30-08-2006
Hi...posted this over at toppy.org.uk but it's not got any response so thought I'd give it a try here.

I helped a friend set-up his Toppy. Please bear in mind that I've never used one before (!) and he's not particularly teccie...what a combination ! We're almost there except for one thing, which I think is down to eit2mei.

To the best of my recollection, whenever he turns on the machine a window about "eit2mei recovery" and an ".ini file" pops up. Then (sometimes) the configuration menu for eit2mei appears. I'm guessing the first one shouldn't happen, and can't figure out if the second is supposed to happen quite so often.

The TAPS we've put in the Autostart folder are the latest versions of: MyStuff, eit2mei, Remote Extender, TAP Commander. Also Bastille Day firmware.

Are we doing something wrong ? I was expecting eit2mei to just run in the background and never really be aware of its presence after the initial setup (background scan enabled).

Apologies for the sketchy descriptions, but it's difficult for me to sit in front of his machine. Any pointers gratefully received...

Thanks

Hi
Yes I remember your post but those symptoms are nothing I have ever heard of and obviously no one else had either or you would have got some suggestions.
Only thing I can think is that the TAP file is corrupted; none of this should happen eit2mei is really just load and forget.
You could try deleting it and downloading a fresh version.

Richard

Edit; No real need for TAP Commander in autostart, I would suggest just putting it in Program files and running it from archive on the occassions you need it

I've already posted at toppy.org.uk but in case you missed it - the problem is probably caused by copying the eit2meiRECOVERY.tap into Auto Start by mistake. This should only be run manually when you want to reset your configuration, so move it out of the Auto Start folder.
