Johnny Mathis was born in Gilmer, Texas, as was Freddie King who is best known for his recordings "Hide Away," "Have You Ever Loved A Woman," and "The Stumble."

"Have You Ever Loved A Woman," was later recorded by the band Derek and the Dominos for their 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

Jim Gordon , drummer in Derek & The Dominos, began his career backing the Everly Brothers, he went on to become one of the most sought after recording session drummers in Los Angeles.
He recorded with Mason Williams on the hit "Classical Gas" and performed on many notable recordings including Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys.

Pet Sounds has a picture of a goat on the front.

The Pretenders had an album called Kid......

Pet Sounds had loads of contributory musicians including Jim Horn and Paul Horn, both of whom played the saxophone and / or the flute. Neither of them played the horn, though.

"Stop Your Sobbing", the Pretenders first hit was written in 1964 by Ray Davies and produced by Nick Lowe.

In January 1983, Chrissie Hynde gave birth to Natalie Rae Hynde, her first child and Ray Davies' third.

Nick Lowe's middle name is Drain.........

That's just bonkers.............

In 1979, Lowe married country singer Carlene Carter, daughter of country singers Carl Smith and June Carter Cash and stepdaughter of Johnny Cash........

'Do you, Nicholas Drain Lowe, take........'

Bet that got a laugh in the church!

......which also leads neatly on to Lowe's other well known song from the era, 'I Knew The Bride'.........

^^^ Terence, why on earth would anyone give that name to their child

Carlene Carter had a cameo appearance in the 1994 film Maverick as did many familiar Country Western music stars including Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Vince Gill.

Vince Gill has sung duets with numerous artists, including Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, Barbra Streisand and more recently, Sheryl Crow

Dolly Parton starred in the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas , also appearing in the movie (and stealing every scene he was in ) was Charles Durning.
CD is a trained dancer , as is Christopher Walken who won an MTV Video Music Award for choreographing his own moves in Fatboy Slim's 2001 music video "Weapon Of Choice."

I know! I thought it was a rogue Wiki entry at first, but nope, it's genuine............

Back to the connections, Fatboy Slim first found fame in The Housemartins of course.......

I know you shouldn't laugh at this sort of thing, but it did amuse me to read that the drummer, a seemingly mild mannered fellow by the name of Hugh Whitaker, later ended up doing a stretch for attacking a bloke with an axe........

He now drums in a local band called Percy, also the name of a 1971 movie starring Hwyel Bennett who had a successful penis transplant (in the film I mean). The movie is now better remembered for the soundtrack provided by The Kinks.

In 1983, Ray Davies of the Kinks, started working on an ambitious solo film project, Return to Waterloo, about a London commuter who daydreams he's a serial murderer. (The film gave actor Tim Roth a significant early role.)

Tim Roth also starred in the film Reservoir Dogs, songs from Stealers Wheel, & Harry Nilsson featured on the soundtrack

The Proclaimers appeared on the hit animated show Family Guy's episode "You May Now Kiss The...Uh...Guy Who Receives" where Peter was the third member of The Proclaimers until he became irritated with the twins singing his lines and punches them.

In 2007 The Proclaimers were featured on Alabama 3's album M.O.R providing vocals on the track 'Sweet Joy'.

What a great prog that was Terence I thought Latka was so cute.

Counting Crows signed with label Geffen Records in 1993, Geffen Records' first signee was disco superstar Donna Summer (1980) As the 1980s progressed, Geffen Records continued to sign a handful of established music icons, including Joni, Elton John, Cher, Don Henley,Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, & Jennifer Holliday,

John Steel was the drummer with The Animals, whereas Animal was the drummer with The Muppets.

Robin, Kermit's nephew, achieved top ten status with 'Halfway Down The Stairs', a poem by A.A Milne set to music.

A.A Milne is best remembered, of course, for his Winnie The Pooh books. The Pooh Sticks got their name from the game played in the stories.

Brian Jones also used to live in the real Christopher Robin's house, I think it was the one he died in.

Jerry Garcia, founding member of Grateful Dead, also cotributed pedal steel guitar to the hit "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young.

Ben and Jerry created an ice cream flavour "Cherry Garcia" in honour of Jerry Garcia!

Great idea - to give two options to run with, rather than just one...

So: Joey Ramone - co-produced an EP for Ronnie Spector, as well as sang 1969 on We Will Fall: The Iggy Pop Tribute.
