Phil Spector's first hit, was The Teddy Bears' "To Know Him, Is To Love Him." He wrote the song after a trip to his father's grave. The song title came from the epitaph on the headstone.

The drummer on one of the sessions, was Sandy Nelson, who went on to have a successful career of his own, ("Teen Beat," "Let There Be Drums.")

The female vocalist on To Know Him, was Annette Kleinbard, who later went on to write "The Nights the Lights Went out in Georgia," a hit for Vicki Lawrence in 1973 and Reba McIntyre in 1992. She also co-wrote "Hey Little Cobra" for The Ripchords

Later still, she wrote ""Gonna Fly Now," the theme from the first Rocky film.
