In theory, Sky has an advantage by specifying the equipment end to end, so they should all be nicely integrated, and free from problems.

But that doesn't actually appear to be the experience of those I know with Sky+

I have deleted the crash TAP; rebooted; watched New24 for 30 mins and no problems so far. On Crystal Palace.

hi guys, I keep getting this crashing business again. I still have the patch tap on my toppy, but it doesnt seem to make any difference this time. It is happening a lot on E4. Is there a new updated patch that I need perhaps? No one else seems to be having this problem at the moment.

Also my toppy doesnt seem to switch itself off anymore after Jags nightly scan. This seems to have happened after I downloaded the new my stuff version. Does anyone know if I can stop this happening?

Coral; whatever problem you have it is nothing to do with the crashes of the other weekend or with the crash TAP. I would move the crash TAP to Program Files so it will be available if you need it again but if it is not in Auto Start it will not be loading and using up memory.

Possibly important in your case as you seem to be using both Jags and Mystuff which are both rather large TAPs. Any particular reason for using both of them as they duplicate a lot of each others functions?

If you are only using Jags to gather EPG info for MyStuff I would suggest that you get rid of Jags and try eit2mei the only purpose of which is to create an EPG info file (called Freeview.mei) which EPGs such as MyStuff can use. You just load eit2mei TAP into Auto Start and forget it. (plus make a few changes to the MyStuff menu).

Lastly you might try re-booting the Toppy; just unplug it from the wall while it is fully on (but not recording ) leave it a couple of minutes and plug it back in. That can help the software sort itself if it has got in a bit of a twist. May help and cannot do any harm.

Coral one more idea (brain is a bit slow after bottle of Shiraz) you could if the reboot has no effect see if the Toppy is OK with without any TAPs. At least that might help ID the problem.

If you have not done it before you can start the Toppy with no TAPs simply by keeping the zero key held down as you turn on. It will almost certainly also change the picture format but you can restore that with another press or two of zero once the boot up is finished.

Hi Richard, thanks for your response.
I am using Jags and mystuff only because I like the way that mystuff sorts the archive stuff. I use Jags for my epg. Maybe I should just get rid of Mystuff as it is all I use it for.

So the patch that sorted the crash isnt needed anymore? It started crashing again on monday I think I just assumed that something similar was happening to the BBC thing the other week. Every few minutes it would just switch off. Still happens but it's sporadic. I will try unplugging as you suggested, and I'll get rid of my stuff too.

Hey Richard, thanks for the advice. Things seem to be better. One other thing, is there a tap that allows you to restart a recording from the place where it's stopped? I used to use this function on mystuff by pressing the slow button after it was stopped and it would replay from the same place. I thought i read somewhere that this function was available on the new firmware update, but it's not.

Well it is has the function but without MyStuff you have to go into the archive select the recording and pressing Play (I think it is play; what with TAPs; universal remotes and just old age I lose track of what the vanilla Toppy does ) will start that recording where you last watched. I think OK starts it from begining.
Not quite as handy as the MyStuff feature; but works fine and not just on the last thing you watched.
