On the 4mb package, Staples Corner. Can't stream anything smoothly from youtube for instance and the connection kept failing completely last night.

Just me?

Am on up to 8mbps in Westminster area but was only only downloading at less than 1mbps yesterday evening.
Just done another speed test now and am getting 2.8 mbps.

0.3 mbps here - confirmed that there are problems at Staples Corner.

Been like this for 5 days - not exactly getting their finger out.

You guys always seem to have problems on the staples exchange.

Yeah, I think HC's connectivity seems much slower (esp US sites) than it used to be. Either they've been cutting back for cash flow or this is the start of the Tiscali shrewdness (unlikely)...

...with the TV off.

Back to .4mbps and they say that my line is only capable of 3.5 mbps altogether because of the S/N ratio.

Aaaaaarghhh!

Well, I'm thinking of ditching the TV and settling for Freeview.

Can anyone tell from the HC website what the prices of Broadband only are, 'cos I can't?

Yeah, there's no point - there's loads of other people who will offer quicker speeds (depending on where you are). Try www.samknows.com to see who's LLU'd your exchange

OK thanks. Be looks nice but I bet I don't get the full monty speeds because of distance from the exchange.

Is Telewest Blueyonder worth it? Looked like similar pricing, better TV channels but only 2mb broadband?

Well, Be reckon the best I can get on my line is 7mbps and Carphone Warehouse has just been enabled on my line.

Anyone had any experience of Talk Talk unlimited 8mbps? 18 month minimum contract though, innit?

That's the best you'll get from any isp then.

CPW/talktalk isn't good from what others have told me.

Done the same. Freeview is great - no freezing, no rebooting of the box right at the punch line. Highly recommend it. And with a dual-tuner harddisk recorder, you can make your very own "replay."

Internet-only pricing seems unavailable online. If you ditch HC television all together you cannot have 8Mbps service any more; the fastest you can get w/o telly service is 4 Mbps at £20/month, I believe.

Yeah, cheers guys. Looking at the options.

I was thinking of having TUTV as well but they've gone and changed that - £180 for a box plus £10 a month. What's that about?

... and this is just a little PC tuner. I tried these, too - no comparison to the real thing. The image quality you're getting with a good, standalone, Freeview tuner or PVR is excellent.
