Count me in as another big Graham Norton Fan. I think his handling of SDF and Maria was fantastic, he is supportive with the wannabes and cutting with the Panelists when they say something daft, I like that!

Yes, Brucie has done alot to promote Dance on TV, but combined with Tess, who looks gorgeous but hasn't got alot going on upstairs, it is a bit of a floundering Presenting Team IMO.

After tonight's opening show of the series, why is Brucie still attempting those godawful jokes, and wasting time, when he has to rush the dancers and Panel's comments towards the end, and tells the audience to "shut up, we're running out of time"?

Save time Bruce by leaving out the so called humorous remarks!!

I don't.

What is there to laugh at?

He's getting worse.....

We need to petition the Beeb for a replacement...

Give it a rest BBC....... Find someone younger and more entertaining.

Graham Norton, Ant and Dec, John Barrowman, Jamie Theakston and Philip Schofield would all be better!!

Anyone else got any thoughts on this?”

Bruce is the main reason to watch this programme. He's terrific!

I wasn't going to wade in to this topic and I really don't know who would replace him. But Bruce Forsythe last night was waaaay outta line with his "private lessons" "jokes" (if you can call them that) vis-a-vis the female celebs. I swear you could see some of them visibly squirming in their seats. Also last year I noticed he kept trying to paw Tess Daly and in one show (the semi-finals I believe) she had to flick his hand away. Whether or not he has talent and/or deserves his huge pay rise is something everyone else can debate but I definitely find him a lecherous old man which is quite distasteful to see

I agree that Brucies jokes are terrible.....although it was quite funny when he said "with a name like DJ Spooney i dont need to tell a joke!"

Even I laughed at that!

What a miserable lot!

Brucie is a huge part of the appeal of this show. Stop wishing it was a straight up dancing contest. Its not. Its light entertainment with variety elements to it!

The lame jokes are intended to be a bit lame.

Oh i can't be bothered, we had this discussion last year and you're all so far off the mark that i just get frustrated. Carry on...

For goodness sake though, don't 'petition the BBC' - now that IS lame!

I can think of one good joke that Bruce did last night, the one about: "I can't feel it but I can certainly see it" after Ray danced in those tight trousers!!

Apart from that, he drove me nuts - he is no longer funny! I read somewhere that he said he would retire if somebody told him he was losing his touch and going past it - so somebody tell him, please!

I literally caught the last few minutes of SCD...but the other residents of emzi towers tell me Brucey looks awful if you take a close look and that there seemed to be something wrong with his eyes

Does anyone know what they are talking about? Did you notice him looking a bit gaunt and pale? (more so than usually for an other man obviously!)

If I choose to petition the Beeb it's my miserable perogative to do so...

You mentioned the show is light entertainment. I agree to that but where the hell is Bruce light entertainment. He's rubbish, past it, pathetic and has an ego the size of Everest...

Just off to start my petition...

God Bless Brucie, but he's way past his best. Tess Daly is about as entertaining as a plank of wood. I agree actually that Graham Norton would be a good choice - he really surprised me on 'Maria' and I went from disliking him to actually thinking he was OK. He's better without the endless innuendo.

Bruce Forsyth is an egotistical so and so, someone should tell him he wasn’t a member of the Rat Pack.

He’s always stealing the limelight of the contestants and judges. I find it disconcerting the way he likes to take cheap snipes at the judges. He loves to cut them of, talk over them, interrupt and generally disrespect them especially Bruno and to think they only get paid a measly £13,750 for the privilege (thats per series), in comparison to Bruce’s £415,000 this is shocking. See www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds31932.html

In term of a replacement, I would have said Lionel Blair until I saw him on C5’s ‘The Farm’ in which he was a pedantic twerp. I’d go with Terry Wogan, Graham Norton or John Barrowman.

Have you perhaps considered that the comments you make about Bruce could be better attributed to yourself. Only someone an ego the size of Everest could think they know more about TV presentation than Bruce, who is the master of the genre.

It's all about the format - Brucie's been consistently one of the iconic game show hosts in the right setting but on SDF he just comes over as tired, unfunny and sadly out of his depth.

The replacement just has to be Graham Norton who was simply brilliant on SDF, his love of the show and his empathy for the performers came shining through every time (as it did on Maria). I was pleasantly surprised on how he was able to rein it in for a mainstream family show.

I don't profess to know more about TV presentation than Forsyth but as a tv viewer I know who I like and who I don't and I dont' like Him.....

It is of course only my opinion (shared I may add) by quite a few others however I suggest in future you read my posts properly before spouting your own drivel in relation to my ego.

Oh dear more Brucie bashing, I wish some people would appreciate that SCD is probably the most difficult show currently on tv to host.

Does any of those critising the prehistoric jokes and supposed fluffs actually realise the enormity of Bruce's job, it is not just standing there and muttering nonsense while the whole thing waits for him to finish. The timing has to be staggeringly accurate cameras, microphones and the most untrustworthy of all, people have to be in the right place at the right time to stop it all looking like a junior school video project.

Heck the fact that everyone moans about Bruce's old jokes is an indication that no one notices any errors with the wonky camera work or mikes not working. Has any of the ultra critical considered one of the major reasons why this is the case? Because Bruce Forsyth was presenting live tv before most of us were on solid foods. Has anyone noticed that unlike the likes of Davina or Graham Norton how little he refers to cards and certainly never when he is direct to camera. Does anyone not think he rushes some judges is beacuse HE has someone screaming in his ear to do so and likewise he can add a quip or two later (so old they should be on Antiques Roadshow) cos no one realises how fast HE can get things back on track.

FFS he's 78 he has earned more than enough money to keep him in golf balls and nausea inducing sweaters and the BBC being quite so hip and trendy as it is, they would have quietly pushed him to the sidelines two years ago IF they didn't KNOW there is no one around who can do the same job as he does.

And sorry if you want to see just how hard a job SCD is just take a look at Tess who still looks like a frightened rabbit whenever she has anything to say.

Heck as I say, the fact so many moan about Bruce rather than dodgy timings in cameras etc should tell everyone what a job BF does.

I don't really like Bruce that much, but I'm afraid to say that it wouldn't be the same without him really...

Norton is ok, but he just doesn't have that thing that Bruce has, people respect him (and if they don't then thats their problem), he also does the job he is meant to do...

I agree with Hamlet77, you watch Bruce and instintly ignore everything thats going wrong...

I don't know if it just me but i spent so much time cringing at Bruce it put me off the show. Does he write the jokes himself - if so he has well and truely lost it. If not then someone needs shooting - they were so bad and Bruce's timing has gone to pot.

This is the first season of Come Dancing i have watched and hope it will be good - i do like Tess but Bruce is so bad.

Sorry Bruce fans!!

I have the opposite opinion Bruce is great a true master and Tess just gushes over everyone.

Usual thing Cringmaking brucie is as awful as ever. But never mind the rest of the show was brilliant. What fantastic dancing - especially Mark R. He got my vote.

Yes, he's not going to be brilliant all of the time.

And sometmes I do want to die whilst watching him tell jokes.

But it just wouldn't be the same without dear old Brucie!
