I have to say that I agree with you. Bruce is really annoying, but I actually laughed at a couple of his jokes this week, and was wondering if he has changed script writers?

You both must have been watching a different Bruce Forsyth to the one I was watching ,Brucie is no bonus to the show ,even Tess looks like she is cringing all the time.

Presenting SCD is hardly rocket science. It’s the format that is a success, it could carry any second rate presenter.

I think the problem is they would want an all round entertainer and in his day that's what Brucie was.

Wouldn't really want GN as he's a bit over done now.”

I agree with you. From being forced to watch the Generation Game as a child I've disliked Bruce and his whole style - to me, generally making people look small to make himself look good - so perhaps not the most objective of people.

Do you have to have someone who can dance (or in Brucies case soft shoe shuffle) to host? - Lionel Blair?
Someone like Michael Aspel could be good if they went non-dancer route.

At the minute all I can say is thank heavens for Sky+ and fast forward.

Why Not?

I'd say give anyone a chance...

As correctly stated previously by other FM's, the success of the show is down to the dancing not the compere although it does help to have someone who doesn't grate on your nerves.

Brucie is an integral part of the show, He seems very happy with it and it seems so do the producers.

Only cos they don't have the b---s to stand up to him and fire him most probably.

Mmmmmmm, intresting Bruce and his jokes are naff, however he is a legend in his own right and that means he has the blue rinse in his pocket and that brings saturday night viewing figures. A replacement, well yes but Graham Norton - no to rude, Terry Wogan - no already turned it down, Micheal Aspel - no not much on personality. so who? well to be honest I can't think of anyone.

I actually like Brucie mistakes & all, he is sweet . Am I sad?
He's getting on a bit now though, must be in his 70's, (I suppose I should look it up).
They should have someone on the cards really as a back-up plan though, in case he can't do it next year. I think Lionel was a good idea but would he be too smarmy & would he gel with Tess?
Blimey I've just looked them up & Lionel is only a couple of years younger than Bruce .
How about that cute dancer from the 80's? Was it Wayne Sleep? He would look great with Tess .

I'm afraid Wayne Sleep would have to borrow Willie Carson's box if he appeared with Tess.

Zoe Ball mentioned while taking part in the last series, that she was originally offered the role of female presenter on SCD and turned it down.

She must be regretting that decision now.

No need to hide from me, too many FMs and too many threads go on about how bad Bruce is, but please just look at Tess she still looks scared and that is even when she is no where near Bruce, so those who claim she is desperate to cover Bruce's faults have to realise this excuse for four years of 'rabbit in headlights' expression is blatently not true.

Heck when Kerplunsky (NOT a spelling mistake) filled in, she may have been annoying as h**l but she could at least present live tv without looking more wooden than the dancefloor. The pained looks, the rigid back and nervous laugh at anything (possibly including the fire alarm) shows Tess is still not comfortable. In her FOURTH YEAR in the job.
